Hey guys,
For those who may not already seen the link on the IronStock web site or forgot about it.
I am having a Make and Take at the request of the Irons at IronStock which is held in late June. Due to the cost of parts, electronics, etc, this is a pre-register / pre-pay Make and Take.
For more info on what it entails, see my web page here: http://www.teambac.com/crawler_kit.html
On that page, it says May 26th is the last day to sign up and pay which I would like to try and keep it close to that to give me time to order materials, electronics, and make parts for the number needed. Sorry, but can't do any "will pay at the event" requests as I can't chance a no-show or 2.
If you have any questions, just post away here.
Oh man, no fair! Folks able to attend should consider themselves lucky. It is very cool that you are offering a guaranteed build of an awesome prop.

A great deal, too! Everything all together. If I had the dough, I'd do it hands down! Unfortunately when I turn my pockets inside out, the moths cough up lint!

Well, one good thing is paying for that ahead of time doesn't take money out of your pocket at the event!
Sounds cool! Wish we were going this year, but my job has been hit-or-miss lately so must say no. Have only worked 3 or 4 days in the past 2 weeks! So tomorrow I get to go job hunting.

Can we purchase the kit and get the how to? I'd love to add one of those to my cemetery this year, and my son would definately enjoy the R/C part!

I could put a UV light out in the yard. That would be cool.

DT, I started taking some pics for a How-To, but work got busy and haven't been back to it again. The biggest downside with the future how-to on it will be the custom made motor mounts that I used for mine and the make and take. Am sure some could come up with their own creative way to hold the motors in place.
Joker, I may be able to do some kits for those not attending IronStock and mail them out. But, those would be done after the event and may be a little higher in price since this is an IronStock special. I will keep you and anyone else in mind. Just e-mail me, bourno at teambac.com
Thanks for the interest as this is a great toy as you already know.

Just wondered if there was a cheaper way to make it. Most of people I talked to at Transworld and etc are there to make things look good cheap.

I think the extra expense is the basic compensation for having a kit that just pops together instead of doing the endless measuring and cutting and figuring it out along the way that takes more time and uses up more materials. That Golden Triangle of "Do you want it cheap, fast, or good, pick two."
I plan on making this kit and then doing my own personal redesigns at leisure after experiencing it at work. This is pretty much my one big expenditure this season. Well this and Ironstock. :biggrinkin:

DT, wish you were able to attend IronStock this year again. I am sure during the Make and Take, there will be several watching to learn how my version goes together and figure out how to make it there own way since I do own a mill and several pieces are tooled with it.
For the watchers, I will do my best to teach you as well. :)
I have already decided against the Duratrax Sprint ESCs (shown in the kit picture) and going to a little more expensive XL-1 ESCs. The sprint had some frequency noise that I didn't care for and from using the XL-1s previously that they were pretty quiet. So, these will be the ones in the kits.

Dammit! After I already went and bought the Sprint 2 ESCs! Feh... see if I ever take initiative again... guess I can upgrade later...

They are not that bad, by the time you cover the creature and the children either screaming in delight or horror ;) no one will even notice.
Guess you can kick me for posting a cheaper ESC. I believe I have played with 4 or 5 different speed control brands now with the crawler, but thankfully only 2 different motor setups.

Had a good turnout for signing up for the Make and Take. Didn't expect very many with the ticket cost for it, but still did pretty good.
I would like to wrap this up in the next couple days if someone was debating yet.
Hope to see many of you at IronStock again this year. You are most welcome to watch the Make and Take to see how it the crawler is built.
