My son Austin and I built our Pumpkinrot scarecrow this afternoon. It always feels good to get a prop finished.

That sucker's got some long arms to chase you down with! Wouldn't want to meet him in a dark cornfield some night.

Good job.

Y...MCA

LOL he does have some long arms. It's our rip of Pumpkinrot's 2003 scarecrow ( http://pumpkinrot.com/pages/Page3.htm ) Austin thought we should try to be true to the original. I agreed. It's one of the most original designs I've run across.

The head is nothing more than a Walmart cauldron covered in paper mache and latex. This was a very cheap prop to make. It's just some wild grape vines, 10 feet of 2" PVC, three PVC fittings, some erosion control fabric and an 8 foot 2x2. Total cost under $25.

Another great prop by ScareFX . ;)

Would it be possible to ask for a sketch or a description of the
internal structure?

Hey, ScareFX. Did you take that drawing from the Austrian rules football handbook? LOL.

In the years past, I've really never put any props out before Halloween. I love the "magic" that comes with a display "appearing" on the big day and "disappearing" late that night. But I decided to put selected items out early this year. Last night I put up our Pumpkinrot Scarecrow. Here's a pic. (BTW, I know I need to board up those windows Zombie-F style. :D )

Wow, he looks great Woody! I really like the way the lighting casts his shadow on the house.
I bet your neighbors are getting anxious to see more!!

Thanks for the diagram ScareFX,

Love the look of the scarecrow. Don't you find it difficult to move all those props on just 1 day?

I usually put out a bit at the time with the full display on Halloween.
On the other hand I'm usually still building stuf up to Halloween. ;)

This weekend A good friend and I spent most of the 1st Dry day in
a long time putting up our Crypt. And we only got it 1/2 assembled at that. :-(

You're welcome and thanks. :)

Yes it was very difficult to get everything done in a day last year. I had everything staged in my garage and got up at 6 a.m. but I was still working when the first ToT's arrived.

I don't think I can do that any longer. Even with a good plan, there's just too much to do. I'll have to do some things during on the weekend this year. Maybe lose a little magic... but maintain at least some sanity.

Thanks Blackwidow and maxcarnage.

Tonight I rigged up my FCG to fly in the dormer above the scarecrow.

The picture was shot at f/4.5 for 25 seconds. She's not as bright as the image.

Nice Shot ScareFX.

My guess is that the Crank was not moving ;).

I hear ya about the time last night my friend Bob came back to help me with
the rest of the Crypt and the Cemetery fence. We gave up about 9:30 PM.
My Neighbors must think I'm cooked . We have only been in the house for just over 1yr.

When I get everything up I'll post photos.
