I bought some air dry clay yesterday and decided to play with it. I made a new witch head. I sat her aside to dry and as she was drying she began to crack everywhere. What did I do wrong?

What type of clay? Most likely you did nothing wrong as all air dry clay will shrink to some degree. Thin layers over several settings will minimize this...in general, the thicker the application, the more it will shrink and crack. If your sculpt just suffers minor cracking, you can always go back and fill the cracks when it dries completely.

I picked up some crayola clay in a tube since it was all I could find out here. I thought it may have been me making it too thick in places but the thinner areas cracked as well. I will probably try a different clay if I can find it and see what happens.
