Saw this and thought I would pass it along...

For Immediate Release - July 1, 2008
TransWorld Exhibits, Inc.
Moves 14th National Haunt & Attractions Show
to the America's Center in St.

New Venue Selected in Response to Growth of Haunt Industry

(Northfield, IL) – In an exciting move, TransWorld Exhibits, Inc. announced its decision to move the 14th National Haunt & Attractions Show (HauntShow) to St. Louis, Missouri, at the America's Center, March 27 – 29, 2009.

Previously held in conjunction with TransWorld's International Halloween, Costume & Party Show (HCPShow), the HauntShow will stand on its own in St. Louis, Missouri, giving the buyers and vendors of the Haunt community convenient access to the industry's 1 trade show in a business environment created just for them.

"After extensive market research and input from vendors and buyers alike, we decided to spin-off the 14th National Haunt & Attractions Show and have it stand alone in a Midwest location that is central to the greatest number of participants in this industry," said Joe Thaler, chairman and chief executive officer of TransWorld Exhibits, Inc., owner of the show. "The Haunt industry continues to grow with advances in special effects, animatronics, sound & lighting, and props. More and more, these products are used in venues on a year-round basis whether it is in a theme park, theatrical production or a haunted house. This growth within the industry demands a stand-alone trade show dedicated solely to the Haunt industry," Thaler continued. "St. Louis is the perfect gateway to a marketplace where the Haunt community can come together."

The complete schedule of activities for the 14th National Haunt & Attractions Show in St. Louis will be announced in the coming weeks.

Highlights of the show will include:

• New product introductions from the industry's leading companies
• Extensive seminar programming
• Networking events and competitions
• Special events and tours, and much more

The TransWorld International Halloween, Costume & Party Show will continue to host a Haunt Pavilion as Haunt products are also fundamental to the celebration of the Halloween season and the buyer of Halloween and seasonal merchandise. The HCPShow will take place March 6 – 9, 2009 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Special exhibit packages are available for exhibitors that wish to participate in both the St. Louis and Las Vegas events.

For more than 60 years, TransWorld Exhibits has been a leading producer of independent trade shows. The business, which had its roots in the housewares and consumer electronics industry, has over the years expanded its offerings to include general merchandise, Halloween merchandise, giftware, seasonal items, luxury merchandise, jewelry, fashion and accessories. The firm runs trade shows in Chicago, Las Vegas, and St. Louis.

I had always "planned" to go to TransWorld when it was in Chicago, but the dates never worked out for me and my job. This end of March venue looks promising and is 3 hours closer than Chicago as well.

Ok, so if this is true, St. Louis is only a few hours drive from me. I' will totally be there! But I had heard in years past that you needed "proof" of your involvement in some sort of haunt, or receipts showing a certain amount of money spent on haunt materials, or a letter of recommendation from a registered professional haunt owner...I also heard that if you are just a home haunter then they waive all that and you can easily attend... anyone have the definitive details on this?

Ok here's what I found out about it. The person who is going to be handleing it at the convention center is out of town until next week and the person who answered the phone only found out about the event today. So I will be calling them next week for sure for more info. I have the number if any one wants it - 314-342-5036 that is to the convention center and the address is 701 Convention Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63101. I did map quest and it is just a little over 4 hours drive for me. I will be going for sure. Thanks for the Heads UP!!!

Damn - now I'm irate but only for selfish reasons - just found out both of my sister-in-laws are expecting. Happy for them as all hell - but damn it if their due dates weren't both in March 09. :( I haven't been to a major convention of any sort since ummmm Crescent City Con 2000 back in Metairie, LA.

The St Lu show will be a pre-qualified attendee show. All the details are not set yet, but here is what was discussed.

The rate (yes rate as in money) has not yet been determined, this is a buyers/sellers show, so buyers will be prequalified. This is to show the vendors that the attendees are there to place orders.

The rate will be balanced out with an incentives package of sorts, a tit for tat for the entrants fee, with a number of offers for the buyers in return.

So technically the show is not open to the general public. Additionally buyers will be specifically identified as opposed to those along for the ride who have no say in the purchases.

There is supposed to be a limited number of invitations to merchants (like MinionsWeb.com) who are boothing at the show to offer to buyers, but all these details are yet to be hammered out.

This will be a show well worth it, if you choose to attend. It will permit the haunt industry to grow by being affordable to smaller vendors who are ready to make that move, bringing a larger selection of innovative ideas to an environment geared to the haunter, rookie to pro, not to Walmart.

We will be there, doubling our booth space, with a number of new innovative products.

Lets keep fingers crossed home haunters can attend too. I'd pay more to get in as a spectator. I also live about 25 minutes from America's Center on the Illinois side. St. Louis is a huge Haunters mecca - I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. I'm not saying it's a huge home haunt mecca - but haunted Houses are like fireworks in July - they are everywhere.

If this by chance gets opened to the hobbyist - I'm happy to help folks who have questions about the area - Revenant Im sure is too.

Worse come to worse - we camp out and have a Haunt Forum picnic in the immediate area.

Thanks Corey for the info.
