View Full Version : In the final stages for "My Ghoul Friday"
Ghoul Friday

I'm pretty sure one of the last things I posted before I went on hiatus last winter was that I was working on my website (focused on the how-to pages). I FINALLY got back to working on it a month ago, and it's now in its final stage of tiny tweaks and trims. I think in a week or so, all the major construction items will be finished. AND I'm at the point where I can finally blog.

It's basically a site that's about Halloween art and haunting, but more about general delight in darker little items. While I like to blog about all the neat little tidbits I stumble across online, a lot of my blogs touch on Canadian artists or events (especially stuff happening in the Toronto area) so that may appeal to some local haunters on here.
So..to humble beginnings!
Now, if I could just get the server to behave...

Nice - it's always refreshing to see sites geared towards our audience and not resort to blacks and extremely dark colors - not that I have a problem with those (see my site below)... But its refreshing.

My first design for it WAS darker but I wanted to break away from it. Like you, I dig a dark site too (maybe that's why myspace keeps saying your site is naughty, TM ;) ), but wanted to do something different that might appeal to a slightly broader audience.

That's a good question. My first reaction is no, it wouldn't be considered just a blog, but I suppose it primarily is since I'll be blogging year round and I only add prop items during the season (Aug - Nov for me). So, blog first, then...Halloween prop resource second?

Well, I did add your site to my site. I marked it as a blog. Maybe I should change it to resource. I am so comfused.

*chuckles* Don't worry too much about it. Do whatever you think fits best. A link is a link ;) Though you might want to give some thought to enabling multiple tagging for your link categories. I can't be the only site that fits into more than one category, and it might be a problem you run into when your site gets heavily populated.

I agree. I think at this point I am just going with the flow. Right now the site isn't popular so I am not too concerned right now. But I know I am going to have to divide things better, like the vendors section. But first I want to see where the people lead me first.

I wanted to thank you for the idea of tags. I have already started to add it to the database. LIke you said, do it now before it gets to big. I hope they don't slow it down too much.

You are very welcome.
Not sure what type of application you're using for the tagging module, but it shouldn't slow you down.

Actually I am just writing my own software for my site to make up my own tags. www.planetgravemarker.com. So when you click on the more info button it will bring up the tags for that site. Right now it shows them but you can't click on them, but you will be able to soon. Your suggestion for Tags was a good one and I just wanted to say thank you. I was was able to add more information for you site. It was just listed as a blog but now it has art etc...
