View Full Version : My "Haunted Sign" and "Vampire Kit"
So the "Haunted Sign" is how I ended up on this site. I found a link for it and ended up building it. Next thing I know..I'm in the forum...awesome. So here is my copy. The only change is that I used a sign from Big Lots (did a little paint work to make the "wood" more "woody"). I think it's lots of fun.
The second is my version of the "vampire kit" I've seen around. I haven't put in the garlic (I do that last). The stake and the head of the mallet are from 2x4's and the handle is a dowel rod...add a little twine...
The "holy water" is a bottle I found in some store and printing done on some "parchment" style paper. This one is going to hang in our entry way.

Looking great! I like how you modified the Big Lots sign to fit your post.

It's always cool to see my projects built by others. Makes me feel like I'm giving back to the community that's given so much to me already. Thanks for the interest in it and I'm glad it turned out good for you. Nice job! :D

Good work pyxl! I've got one of those Big Lots signs that I'm using this year. Nice mod of yours. Might have to "woody" mine up a bit too. Noticed you ripped off that nasty black "fabric" like I did. :D
Zombie-F, I followed your instructions closely...they were very well done. In fact, if you look closely, I even copied the "custom" plate that the lamp attaches to. I thought about a different design, but yours worked..and if it ain't broke...
I also decided to skip the flourescent lamp starter..and bought the flicker device at Target (The CD that comes with it isn't bad by the way)...but I'm going to try the "flicker" trick of yours elsewhere.

One thing I should note (and will soon in the how-to) is that if you plug the light that has the fluorescent starter into a GFI outlet, it will "trick" the outlet into thinking there's a short circuit and cause the outlet's protection to kick in.
Strangely enough, if you plug the light into an outdoor holiday light timer and plug the timer into the GFI outlet, it doesn't happen trip the breaker. Strange.
