I've decided to try my hand at making an Axworthy Ghost this year. I've got my accross-the-street neighbor's permission to connect it to her flag pole. Anybody have any idea how high it'll have to be to clear a moving van should one venture down the street? Also, what is the maximum weight of the ghost itself?
Thanks in advance for your input.

not sure it's safe to put anything above moving traffic. If one accident should happen...

Most big rigs are 13-1/2 feet in height to the roof of the trailer. Moving vans, not sure, but would say around 10 - 11 feet.

The ghost itself, you will want it to to light weight as possible so the line doesn't sag or come off the pulleys.

Also keep in mind, the lowest hanging wires over the streets are cable and telephone. Sometimes even they are low enough to get whacked by big trucks. Just above those are the power lines. In order to make your clearance, you'll be playing near high voltage, depending on how your street is wired. But I agree with Sickie, putting anything above traffic could be trouble, and you really don't want to be the cause of an accident.

Another thought would be getting a fine from your municipality if anything were to happen. Streets are considered the right of way and you may need to get a permit to run anything accross the street. Bourno is right, the minimum height you should consider should be over 13 1/2'. That's the maximum height for most trucks w/o a special oversize permit.
