On Food Network they are having a challenge where people are carving pumpkins. There are some pretty outrageous ones. Very talented people.

Last night on Iron Chef America they featured offal for Halloween. I don't know if I could have eaten that stuff. After haggis....I draw the line.

Yeah..I saw part of that offal show, too. How gross. Liver, kidneys....all those organs are meant to filter toxins out of the body. Why would anyone then want to EAT what is essentially a big organ-sponge full of toxins? Ew....I'll take a porterhouse steak anytime, but keep yer kidney pie.
Yig.

I've tried my hand at complex pumpkin carving. It's much harder than it looks and takes a lot of pre-planning in your head on what you will carve & how. I think it's cool how a lot of those artists get paid enough to make that their full time job. Same with the sand castle carvers...they do that 24-7. Kewl.

hey--I LOOOOOVE haggis. I know, I'm weird.

I didn't catch any Halloween shows on TV at all this year. Guess I missed out. :(

Haggis isn't bad if served with the proper "gravy" :tonguevil:

Some of the items used were brains, lamb hearts, pig trotters, calf livers, kidneys, duck tongues, cock crowns, duck fries, tripe, sweetbreads, pig's blood and chittlins.

Glad I ate before finding this thread. You get kinda spoiled when you work for the french the attitude sucks but the food is always good.

LOL... "Chittlin's" reminds me: When I was about 12, my family did a road trip down South. At a roadside diner, I saw something on the menu I had never seen before, so I asked the waitress what scrapple was. She described it this way: "All the parts of a pig ya usually don't eat, ground up, and fried".

OH YUM-O!!

Needless to say, I didn't order scrapple.
