So last weekend I bought a foam plaque like the one at a famous dark ride at a theme park somewhere in ca (wink wink)...my thoughts were to make a plaster copy of it so that I could mount it on my gate outside and have it being weather resistant. Anyone out there know how to make a mold of it, or could do it for me?

Smooth-On offers tons of great products for moulding and some pretty good tut's as well. http://www.smooth-on.com/Sculpture-and-Art-/c1239/index.html Plaster is cheap for casting just make sure you seal it really well.
Is the plaque full size? I cant ever seem to find those anywhere. I'm going to the park in question in Sept. (the one in Fla) hopefully I can pick one up.
Good luck.

I bought a couple of them from the disney on-line store a few years ago when they were on clearance. They are made of resin and are very heavy. And huge. It would be expensive to make a flexible mold that size. like 20" x 12" x 3"?

The resin one is not the one I bought, it is a foam replica of it. I got two foam plaques for the price of the one resin one.

I meant I have a couple full sized plaques. They were less than $20 each. Can't you use the foam ones on your gate? Are you worried about weather or vandals/thieves? How many plaques did you need? Lol I ask a lot of questions.

Bob,
The reason why I am looking for the resin one, or rather, make a copy of the foam ones in resin was so that it would last throughout the year on my gate. I don't have to worry so much about vandals, more the weather. Would you be willing to part with your plaques?

sure. They're still in the box they came in. I paid $20, but the shipping will probably be a killer. I'll go by the post office and get a quote.

I can part with one of them, but I'd like to keep ONE for myself, lol. I have no idea what I'll do with it, or with the matching mirror I got when I ordered it. I live in a victorian and my wife might let me Addamsfy it someday...
