You are right. Me thinks it is new.

yeah, but what does it do?

It's a new way of saying you like a post. At the bottom of the first post in every thread is a new "like" button (it says "thanks" right now, but I'm fixing it). Click it to let everyone know you "like" that thread. It's a cleaner way for everyone to say they like something rather than posting a "hey, I like this" post.

Your post count will go up by one for every "like" you dispense. You may also feel free to post a formal reply as well if you have something else to add to the discussion. :)

This is similar to the like feature found on Facebook.

That's interesting, but I don't see the "like" (or "thanks") button

It's not visible in all forums. The Welcome Forum, Questions and Comments Forum and Fun and Games forum do not have the like button.

I dunno - if I like a thread, I like to say why I like it, 'cause that's kinda, like, more personal:D

I would agree. Thats much better and friendlier.

Feel free to do both if you like. This is more for if a person just wants to quickly say they like something or if they perhaps have nothing to say other than "I like this."

I like the 'like' idea.

I agree with Roxy. Plus, I always like to see who is interested in what I'm doing, not so much how many people are.

But I can see the advantage.

When a person likes an item, it adds their name to a list that appears just below the first post. Here's a sample of a thread I "liked"

http://www.hauntforum.com/showthread.php?t=15549

Scroll to just below the first post and you'll see my name in a list. The list gets added to as more people click the "like" button. :)
