Materials:

2 sticks and several vines=free from my yard
4 walmart bags = free
news paper= free
2 rolls of duck tape=$4.24
paint (prorated)=$3.01
carpet latex glue=$6.28
1 white sheet (GoodWill)=$1.06
2 rolls of paper towel=$2.12
wire=$.99
total
$17.70

To make the pumpkins. I stuffed the walmart bags with news paper. Then duck tape them. Do at least 3 layers alternating between horizontal and vertical. Once you have the correct size shape and firmness you may begin to make the faces. Dip the paper towel into the carpet latex glue. Build up the areas for the eyes and mouth. The more you build it up the deeper it looks. I always paint it right away to give it a wet glossy look as the glue dries. Next I took my dollar sheet and sowed it into a rough grim reaper cloak. Dipped it in brown paint and added stain. To make the bones(ribs) of the Gaurdian I took fresh sticks(not dead) and bent them. I secured them with wire to a stick backbone and painted white. I took an 8 foot stick and placed it in the ground. wired it all to attach and all done.

Thanks I just hated to spend money on pumpkins so after many trial and error I think I have perfected a cheap good looking pumpkin

Nice job. It looks like you have a light mounted in his chest or is that just the white paint glowing?

The llight in his chest is just a red light bulb that is in a trouble light that I have hooked to his ribs

I like how the pumpkins on the ground look like they're in that beginning-to-decay stage. And the tilt of the head on the reaper one has that "Oh crap, my babies are rotten!" look to it:)

You know, this is one of those props that at first looks simple enough, but then you realize it is scary as hell and you have to quit looking. I really love this. There is just something about it that screams terror. You just know it will come get you after you think you are safely home in bed. Most excellent prop.

I love the black detailing around the eyes and mouth, as if they were on fire from the inside or something - I think that, along with the shaping is what creeps me out the most about these things - Great work.
