Another project I have been working on is my Vile Things Skeleton. I hope everyone know's Eric's site www.vilethings.com. He is as easy to talk to as John is from Pumpkinrot. So if you have question, he is always willing to help. I started working on the backbone last week, but problems gluing gave me bit of a problem when the glue stuck to one of the bricks I was using to weight the foam. You can guess what happend next. Anyway, I have a picture of the backbone as yesterday(of the new backbone). Of course I have already started to trim it down a little, but just to give you a taste. I guess as I am going thru the process, if people would comment that would be great. Right now there isn't too much to comment on. Just need your feedback as I go thru the process. Here is the first pic. I know, nothing to write home to mother about. But, I hope it will. If anyone has done this before, please feel free to give me your 2 cents.

That's great! I want to do one too this summer. I understand polyurethane glue is used..Is that like "Gorrilla glue"?
Also, sclupting out the skull seems difficult, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Keep the pics coming of your progress, as I would like to learn from your mistakes before I make them! (hehe):D

No problem dr. I will. polyurethane kinda reminds me of Gorrilla glue. It expands like crazy when you put water on it. I thought Eric was joking about that. I was able to buy some from Menards. If you get it on your hands, it won't come off until your skin does. If you get my meaning. If I were you, I would start soon on this project. Blackwidow says she wishes she started this soon, because it takes a lot of time.

The backbone is in the ruff draft stage. And I mean ruff draft. Still have a few things to do to it. Also, I started on the head today. It is drying in the garage as I type.

Thank you. I am going to try to get the to face like this. Here is a picture. I have a PC gamer mag that has a cool skeleton on it. I think this would look awesome on him.

That's a nice piece of work you have there!
How much time do you have into it?

Good question FE. I am going to guess around 10 hrs. The head will take me longer because the face will be seen by everyone. The backbone will mostly be convered by cheese cloth, so I not to concerned about it.

Very Nice DT. I don't think I have the patience to make something that elaborate. Keep posting updates. Im interested on how it progresses.

No I didn't get a Chance to finish it yet. I had screwed up on the backbone a few times and then my mom passed away in May so I have had trouble getting back on the horse. But I just recently started it back up again. Knowing that I am not going to get the head done, I was able to buy a foam head from terror syndicate. Maybe next year I will finish my own head, but for this year I think I will got with TS's foam skull. Thanks for asking.
This project isn't as easy as I thought. Plus I am too picky. I sent Erik the picture of my backbone and he said that it was fine. But I couldn't live with it. The picture on the bottom is TS's skull that I bought.

You know I was almost thinking about using it for my scarecrow. Opps, now Krough is going to kill me because I told him I was building a Pumpkinrot. Opps sorry, I couldn't bare to build one up for the contest, without making something different. Now I have something to look forward too.

DT, I think that is a good idea, using the backbone for the scarecrow. Pumpkinrot is great, but I am hoping to see some awesome, non-pumpkinrot scarecrows come out of this.

DT - my condolences regarding your mother...that's always rough (I can relate...lost mine 6 years ago)
Not going "PumpkinRot"-ish, eh?...seems to be a lot of that going on - I can't wait to see what kind of ideas people are coming up with...
(I too am taking an alternate route...as I thought most folks WOULD head down the "Rot"-n path)

Funny thing is that I'm accidentally going to be somewhat "PumpkinRot-ish" this time around if my scarecrow turns out as planned. He and I had a similar idea this year. Not quite the same though. :)
