Floating lantern

Has anyone here done a floating lantern prop. I found http://floatinglantern.wardellshauntedhayride.com/
but it requires 20 ft diameter to work properly. I wonder if I could scale it.
Any other ideas out there for this type of prop.

The more room you have the better it looks.
But you could do a 10 ft span, so it would just go back and forth instead all the way around.
