I saw a prop somewhere that was similar in concept but had the puppet from the saw movies riding a tricycle

Originally I had plans to use a garage door opener to make a figure ascend a flight of stairs. I tested it out in my shop, but was not satisfied with the travel rate so I opted to build a scissor mech that used an air cylinder. We need for quick scares that keep groups moving through the haunt.

But....if you had a place to mount it overhead, you could easily make a figure come from high above and slowly lite to the ground as it comes forward. All you need to do is to fix a pulley to the travel block of the opener, and tether a line out in front of the opener arm that attaches to the ghost. Or....if you also have the door tracks, you can make a standing figure rise up and over your group. If you make the arms hinged at the shoulder, they can be reaching out to your victims once he gets to the overhead position. I do have drawings of this set up if you're interested.
