I don't remember seeing this in a many yard haunts. I think I'll add some dirt fisters to my haunt this year.

That's so Army of Darkness!:D
This is actually a great idea for adding a little more spice to a graveyard scene, and you don't have to buy a whole bucky, either.

That's so simple it's brilliant. Here I've been working on ground breakers, tombstones, etc....when I should have just been making these.
I saw posted on halloween forum where someone used latex dish washing gloves and great stuff to make hand/arms...hmmmm that just might be the way to go with these.

I did these last year and placed them along the walk way.

That's awesome. i was going to do a wandering lantern with a hand, but as time get shorter and shorter I will definatley consider making some of these.

I use the 'severed arm' props that you see in the stores. Put a stake in the arm part, throw some peat moss around it and voile'. They come in lefts and rights, different lengths, some have sleeves, etc.
Yeah, a driveway lined with those would be cool!

Basically its just 1/2 pvc with a 45 degree elbo fitting or you can go just straight up. I use a wire frame work for the hand then cover it all with toilet paper mache and then a coating of latex and stain. The wire on the end of the hand just sticks into the pipe. The fingers will bend and hold a small amount of weight (about a pound or so).
Here is some pics of the wire frame for the hand.

Thanks, DC, one more thing that I now think I can't do without, lol. Time is running out so quickly. We open our haunt Saturday, Oct. 3.

That's awesome! You have to make sure to light them enough to be able to see them though. I feel they could be overlooked quite easily by TOTs

Whoa! I didn't even realize til I looked at the other pics that those are flat! 2D!
I made a zombie hand groundbreaker a few years ago, but those are phenomenal!
BD, love the lantern idea! I'd totally steal that one from you if I had the time!

Well, not to downgrade the idea, I think it's cool, but I'm not convinced that unless people are TOLD they are hands they will know what they are. At least from a distance.

?????? crap, I didn't realize they were flat. Even going back to look at all the pictures, I couldn't tell they weren't 3-D prop arms until the daytime shot.

Great job on the hand lanterns, that would be great to line a cemetery fence with. I'm gonna recommend it for Ghost Train.

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to have them holding candles this year. But if the candles don't get done then its back to lanterns. Those are the dollar store lanterns and they are not hacked. But since I dont have toters its not an issue.
