My local Ace Hardware carries various MinWax stains, but none of them are gel stains; and I would rather my money go to the local guy than the corporate giants (Home Depot, Lowes). What other kinds of stains or things can I use to age plastic bones/skull, rubbing black into the details and some other dirty shade over that? Don't know how to classify the bones, but they are heavy. Got them from the skeleton factory.

Here's how my Bucky's turned out with a liquid stain.

I have used the Minwax stains from ACE with good results (golden oak). I also got some Olympic stain at the dollar store that worked well to. Drying time on plastic or latex is always a issue, it takes awhile.

use thinned down acrylic or oil paint
