I plan on building a crypt for my FCG to live in. I was thinking this morning of how to incorporate a fog chiller into the design. I have a Chauvet 1250 and it has a considerable amount of volume output, and as such it needs lots of dryer vent to chill the fog.
Anyway back to my idea. I have to build a raised floor for my crypt since my yard isnt at all flat. I was thinking of making the raised floor the chiller iteself.
I would basically have a 8-12" height or so as a compartment that is the width and depth of the crypt, I would line it with thick plastic and many many feet of dryer vent hose, I could then fill this compartment with ice. I am sure there is some point at which too much vent hose it a problem since the fog wont push all the way out. The front of the crypt would have vents or some such things to release the fog, maybe small gargoyle type things perched on the steps belching out fog.

Good idea? Bad idea? Got a better idea?

Ive been gathering photos of crypts to use for inspiration/ideas when I build this thing. If you want to check them out here they are

I know the guy on Raven Manor did something like that. I think the smoke gets pump from the back of the crypt though. But that is a good idea. I am not sure how long your fog machine lasts for, but just make sure you can add fog juice without pulling the floor up. LOL.

What's your progress so far? I think it sounds like a great idea. I'm working on a mausoleum design right now for this year. It'll be more of a "crypt" and won't have an open front. I'll be concealing a lot of the power for the graveyard in it as well as the fog machine and chiller. I definitely want to place vents in the front that will release the fog as well. Maybe even have the front tomb door slightly open with chilled fog pouring out and a green light behind....

Be creative! Those pictures you posted are really inspiring. :)

Krough , which design are you leaning towards more that would help ( me at least) to put the pieces together ..and Death Touch is right "but just make sure you can add fog juice without pulling the floor up. LOL."
Also like the door ajar wit the light behind it from JohnnyL

wow this is another old post. LOL. Too many ideas too little time.
Ive decided to move my FCG to the front porch and place the motor below the ghost, ala Scarefx. This fixes my FCG problem.
I may still build something crypt like. But more like http://rubens.anu.edu.au/raid1cdroms/england/burford/church/graveyard/P1018782.JPG

freaking awesome inspiration pics grim, a word of suggestion though:

in the tridition of putting in humor for those who know, why not make it "The Chauvet crypt" and put "Chauvet" above the entrance as though that's the last name of the person inside, although 1250 puts you in the middile ages you may want a different number for the date :/

ok, that pic made me think of something.

has anyone ever used fake moss to decorate their tombstones and other static tree/structure props?

would it add to the illusion to do that?

Am I just a wack job who drinks too much coffee?
