I just thought i would toss this idea out for anyone that might be interested.

I wanted a walking stick for halloween night, that would serve some purpose, so i thought i would try a nice 4 foot black light.

I got it to run on 2, 9 volt batteries, using the power inverter from a scanner.

the bulb will be enclosed in an acrylic tube to protect it. and a small project box till hold all the parts, im going to have 2 sets of batteries wired to a switch so when the first pair run down just flip the switch and its ready to go again.

if anyone is interested or has questions let me know, i can post more info and some pictures.

Sounds like a perfect solution for putting out portable blacklights. So I take it you are talking about a scanner like from a copier or fax ? Also I would imagine the life on the two 9 volts is gonna be limited. Maybe you could write up a how to ?

what about UV high brightness leds? Run a row of them down the stick in a tube if you want.

i will do a write up and pictures once i get everything done. ill post it in a day or two.

the inverter from a copier or scanner would work fine. as for the LEDs i have a bunch and they are great, i just wanted something ready to go with out alot of soldering.

the battery life hasnt been tested to much yet, but ive been running the test on a couple of used batteries, and there holding up pretty good.

I am really interested in this. Sounds like a homemade version of the Star Wars Master Replica lightsabers that they sell for something like $150. Much cooler, since it's in black light, lol.

I just got involved in a school project where the rooms don't have a lot of power outlets. Something like this sounds like it would be perfect.
