I am in the process of building the second tree. I have had quite a few inquiries about my process and technique.
I have started a how-to sort of at http://www.grimvisions.com/tree2.htm
It wont be a step by step how to exactly, I dont work that way.
Right now I am just working on the posing I want for it. I have posted 2 different poses on the page.
I will post my progress to the page and talk about each step along the way.
If anyone wants additional detail let me know.

krough, thanks for posting the second tree. I love the effect, the way it looks like the skin is stretching. Is that a natural effect of the papertowel mache? Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

The stretching effect isnt a natural thing with my mache. I make it look like that. If the underlayment (duct tape) has small vertical folds in it then when you apply the mache you can use a brush and brush the paper towel mache sheet down into the folds and make it look like its strecthing.
Even without the underlayment its possible to sort of push the mache sheet with a large brush when you apply it to cause that texture.
As I do the mache ill take tons of pictures and post them with narrative.

It is about time man. I bought 6 skulls just for this purpose from ACC. Mine, of course, will be armed with paint ball guns. Death from below. LOL.

I got some latex and I plan on making some paper mache skulls next, and then use them and follow the excellent examples you have provided to make some of my own stumps. I'll try not to make them to big of a rip off!

Those are some really cool looking trees Johnny.
LOL, now you will start taking pictures of things like this to use for inspiration and ideas as you work.
Feel free to rip off as much or as little as you like.
And if you have any questions while you work on it and I can help send me a message.

If you make any more of these, no one will be able to contact you thru email. You will have so many emails to answer that you wont have time.
