You may consider a scrim. You can use a role of mosquito netting or similar. There was a great deal on e-bay last summer, surplus stuff. Then just project the image onto the scrim. It is important to have a well lit display behind the scrim so that the images of the people walking will appear transparent. I dont know how you could cover 30 feet but I am sure multiple projectors synchronized together would work. There is an example on "the hallowed haunting grounds" web site.

You can make a video. Just dress some people up in white put a black plastic behind them and video them walking. Then project the video on some kind of scrim as mentioned.

I found an awesome and cheap way to do this, but the bad news is that it requires a projector (commonly called a power point projector). This is how I did it (and still do it).

1. Purchase the "drop cloth" plastic protective film used by painters from Lowes. There are tons of types, but honestly I just use the cheapest stuff which I think is $2.00.

2. Project image directly onto this stuff from behind using ANY power point projector. I put mine on the ground and put a bale of hay on each side, then one on top of those two bales. A kind of pyramid. This disguises the location of the projector. This is not necessary, just how I do it.

3. Really that is all!
You would not believe me if I told you....about how many people LITERALLY take a seat in the driveway of my house each year to watch my Big Scream TV dvd playing on that silly piece of plastic. I have to admit....it works WAY better than I ever dreamed. Is it clear as glass? No. Is is clear enough to fool almost everyone...in the dark..yes. Again..a well lit display behind it is necessary.

Here are the extra things I do, based purely on where I am mounting my plastic screen.

1. I purchased to 1/2" (10 feet long) diameter pvc pipes from Lowes. With the help of a second person....I taped the first edge of the plastic to the pipe. Duct tape...clear tape..doesn't matter.

2. Since wind will EASILY carry this away...I purchased an identical second pipe. And I tape the bottom edge of the plastic to it. This serves as a weight and this will simply lie on the ground.

3. Now you have a "transparent screen" But you have to erect the screen. I do mine inside my garage door opening. So I put two eye hooks, 10 feet apart in the garage (my door is 10 feet wide).

4. On the top pipe of the screen, drill one hole at each end, through the pipe. That is a total of four holes you need to drill through both walls of the pipe.

5. From Lowes I bought 100' of white rope....cheap kind. Doesn't matter. I then cut rope in half and run one end through the freshly drilled hole in the pipe. One piece of rope per end. Tie into a knot.

But here is the trick. These pipes are very flexible and will sag when erected horizontally. So When you pull the rope through your drill hole, then redirect the rope horizontally through the center of the pipe....and then through the second hole in the wall of the pipe that you just drilled. Do this for both sides. This creates an "x" pattern of the rope inside the 10 length of the pipes center. Now pull eac end of the rope through its respective eye hook in ceiling. Do this for both sides. Now pull. The eye hooks act as a pulley point for pulling your screen into position. The criss-crossing of the rope inside the pipe keeps it horizontal and taunt. This will also keep your transparent screen tight.

6. Now...find a weight...like a brick. Wrap the other end of the rope around the weight and throw it on the floor. Alternatively, you could use yet another eye hook on the wall to tie off your rope. My walls are masonry so I choose the fast n easy route with the brick.

That is it!

Now, I FULLY realize not everyone has a projector lying around....but if you have access to one....USE IT. They are awesome for haunts. You can buy those guys (what I call) cheap these days.

When Halloween is over. Slowly roll your screen around the pipes from each end in a scroll style. Use the rope to wrap around the two pipes to keep them from unrolling. Store in your attic over the garage on top of the trusses....or similar area.

Next year....all you do is unroll.....pull ropes through eye hooks.....pull, tie off and you are ready to roll!

Do yourself a favor and buy an extra piece of plastic. These WILL rip in thew wind. I dont put mine up until Halloween day. It has survived with no rips two years and counting. But I only do a one day haunt.

Hope this helps. It took my as long to type this as it did to build this prop. LOL
