Good to see people from this group will be attending this gathering.
I do have a question. Does anyone know if they will have name tags or something so that we can recognise each other.
I have met Zombie-F before so he will be about the only one I could spot in a crowd.
If they do give you name tags I think I'll write my user name under my real name on the card.
Any thoughts?

actually, my dad and I were talking about the gathering the other day and he said that he thought that you should give a presentation next year zombie! So what'd you guys think? i had a great time, and it was very nice to meet some of you as well as see zombie and lotus again. I thought the lectures were great, although the timing and pneumatics ones sort of lost me... i hope i can figure that stuff out sometime. And some of those props looked really cool so I hope to try them... so, what about you guys?

Had a great time finally getting to meet some more people from the Forum
Zombie-F
07-30-2006, 05:08 AM
Yeah, seeing Lotus, mike, SpectreTTM, and Bone Daddy was pretty cool. The lectures were great and the show and tells were fantastic.
My wife and I wound up eating at the Salem Beer Works with Ed Gannon, Vlad (the gothic magician, not from our forums) and a whole bunch of the others from the gathering. That was fun too... seeing haunters not in their element. :p
We wound up not staying over in Danvers as we had hoped. Trying to find our hotel was a nightmare and when we got there, it was such a dump that we just decided to take the hour drive home and will go back for a tour of the local Salem attractions some other time.

Yes, next year I will definitely bring photos and (as long as I can get the AC in my truck fixed) a prop to show. It was nice meeting you and Bone Daddy too. You guys live so close to me, yet getting out to see each other's setups is so impossible. If I can manage to get everything out a day earlier this year (meaning, no rain the 2 days before Halloween), maybe you guys could come by and see my stuff and I could swing by to see yours. :D

It was a great time. It was good to chat with Zombe-F, Bone Daddy, and mnstrmum again.
It was also great to finally meet Lotus & mikeq91.
I just wished that they would have one more than once a year. I suggested a few things to
Pam and a couple of the staff about doing more. We'll have to see.
Great lectures. Too bad the Pneumatics one was so late into the day.
I know a few people who had to leave before the lecture.
Great source of info. http://www.mcmaster.com/. I'm sure there a a lot of people who are
unfamiliar with this catalog so I thought I'd post it as a resource.
I have a couple of pictures. Unfortunately my camera batteries were on the way out that day
and I forgot extras. I'll post what I have sometime later in the week.
If they have one of these types in your area you really should go.
If not Try to get one going. Great place to network & meet people with the same passion.

I wish they would have more then one gathering a year too, like every other month a make and take gathering or something like that

I wish they would have more then one gathering a year too, like every other month a make and take gathering or something like that
I did make that suggestion to Pam. She said she would try depending on the crowd. Given the amount of people who attended the gathering on Sat, a make & take would be tough. Maybe they could sponsor it and have a limited attendance 1st come 1st serve basis. I also talked to Mike the guy who tried the Make & take for the hand making liked the idea. But he also acknowledge the amount of people was tough. However, my guess is not every one would attend every make & take so that would cut down on the numbers. You might try writing Pam & other member on the staff to suggest more Make & takes.
I wish I had more time to get more involved with the NEH Club. From their site it looks like there was a true effort to be an active haunters site. Unfortunately, most likely due to time it has been reduced to a once a yr meeting. The last news letter that went out was in . The summer 2002 edition.
From what I can tell the NEH Club is a sub group of the East Coast haunt club. Pam & I believe a few people, actually drove 3 hrs from NY to set up the show. That in it self was very admirable. Maybe if we wrote them thanking them for their effort and showing more interest in make & takes they might be willing to try them out.

Hey there...
It's been a while since I've checked in and wish I had before this past weekend. I was at the conference last year with a group from Barrett's Haunted Mansion (http://www.bhmansion.com) in full makeup. Unfortunately this year I ended up showing up late in the day. Luckily I was still able to see Ed Gannon's newest haunt with some incredible 3d artwork. I definitely think he'll be doing well up there.
I was able to meet a couple of new people at the Salem Beer Works after though, which was nice. Just wish I had more time.
Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say "Hi"...
Talk to you soon
Zombie-F
07-31-2006, 06:46 PM
Oh crap, I was at the beer works... I didn't even get to meet/say "hi" to you. My wife and I were sitting at the end of Ed Gannon's table.
mikeq91
07-31-2006, 11:35 PM
I forgot about Ed's haunt... that 3-D was absolutely amazing! I've seen some 3-D haunts before, but that was by far the best. Do you think it was better paint, or they had better glasses... whatever it was, they did a great job with it!
Also, I talked to Glenn at one point, and he said to keep checking the website becuase they were going to update it more often. I think it would be a great idea to have these gatherings more often, though they would definately have to be on a smaller scale. But who knows since Pam and Glenn are from New York. What would you guys think of an Haunt Forum type gathering? I know we couldn't work it out for everyone, but there seems to be a good following of people in or around Ma., and we all love to build props! Just a thought...

I know I am being a whiney bag, but I am good at it. Does anyone have pictures or did some one draw a picture on a napkin while they were at the convention to show the people that didn't go how it went. I would even accept smoke signals, anything?

Oh well... if you are ever heading to Barrett's drop me a line. I'll stop over and say hey... well.. maybe not "say" hey, since I'll be in character, but you'll get a wave. ;)
I was sitting in the far corner, at the table with Vlad at one end, Grimm (red contacts), etc... I had the beard that probably looked out of control since my wife was deciding to braid it while we waited for food.

Hey Guys,
I was at the gathering and it was really difficult to find anyone from this forum. Partially, because there was limited time to socialize at the gathering itself and also because there wasn't a way to distinguish members. I asked a few people if they posted here, but after a while decided to give up.
Anyway, thought it was pretty well run and worthwhile. The electrical and pnuematic sessions were too fast and because of that - confusing. I have a fully automated haunt and had a hard time with some things that were said. So, if you found yourself lost - don't worry. I think it was just a case of ten pounds of sh*t in a five pound bag. Jim did a great job in a short time with a vast topic.
Maybe next year...

Hey Grave Stalker,
I know what you mean. Because of Traffic I missed the 1st 1 1/2 hrs of the gathering and was unable too mix & mingle much. Fortunately, I had met Zombie-F and Bone Daddy before so I dd recognize someone. I was fortunate enough to meet Lotus & mikeq91 this time around. We all should have posted photos of ourselves before the gathering that way we could have recognized each other. ;)
Hopefully, there will be more frequent future gatherings. As I suggested before we should write Pam & Glen thanking them for the gathering and suggest frequent future gatherings.
I looking at the photos of past gatherings I'm sorry I had missed those. I'm already planning on the next one.
Hope to get a chance to meet you some time.
Great props on your site.

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many of us at this gathering! I should have been pretty easy to pick out as I was wearing a HauntForum T-shirt (which you can buy from our CafePress store (http://www.cafepress.com/hauntforum)).
I think perhaps if they're going to continue running the gatherings only once a year, it should be a little longer than just 6 hours. Maybe have it run from 10 AM until later like 8 PM. That way, there can ample time for all the presentations as well as a social hour to just hang out and talk.

I know I sooo would have like to hang out in Salem after the gathering and mingle.
My wife is not interested in attending the gathering but she knows that it
would have been cool to hang out in Salem. So next time she will drop me off at the
gathering go do something then meet up with me after so we can hang out. I think that is a good compromise.
