On Christmas morning after the kids had finished opening gifts my wife ventured into the basement to try and find a box to take the presents to the in-laws and she bumped into one of the buckies hanging from the floor joists.. For some reason the threaded rod in his head came loose from the head and bucky came crashing down on top of her.. Shes no worse for wear other than some scratches.. but poor bucky he has definately seen some better days.. He suffered a fractured skull as most of his facial structure went strewn across the floor along with a bunch of extra broken ribs..

Whats the best medium to use to try and piece him back together.. White hot glue will obviously work on his ribs etc.. I am just curious what the best thing to reconstruct the face might be?

I would try epoxy, but it may be worth it to just buy a new skull if it's really bad. You can probably make a cool opened grave scene with the broken one.

Actually I think you should keep it the way it is and have people go in your basement and have the bucky fall on them.

2 part isocyanate glue - it comes as glue (thick superglue) and an activator (aerosol). Often called things like Mitre Mate. If you can't find this then go to a model shop and get Zap Gap (also thick superglue)

This stuff sticks flesh as well so wear plastic disposable gloves.

I'd have to recommend patching it back up the way it was originally and storing it in your mother in-laws basement.

Lmao... I like some of the creative ideas..

I\'ll look into that glue.. I could definately go the route of just swapping the skull out as i have others but i would like to try to piece it back together for my wifes sanity as well since she was upset that she killed bucky

You should take the head to the ER screaming, "HELP! Great Uncle John fractured his skull!"

having tried to patch up a 4th class bucky with alot of broken parts this last year, and having tried gorilla glue, super glue, and 2 part epoxy, what worked the best in the end was hot glue. The other glues didn't really bond to the pvc skeleton like the hot glue. I suspect the hot glue melted the pvc enough to bond to it.

To fill in the seams you might want to try a 2 part epoxy clay like magic sculpt or apoxie sculpt ( very useful for other projects too). It;s easy to use and clean up and is very strong.

Thanks for the info Devils , I picked up some epoxy last night that i was gonna give a shot .. if not the hot glue is the old standby

Just need to get some white glue vs the clear stuff.

It just happens to land on your mother-in-law...sounds suspicious. LOL!

Good luck with the reconstruction.

Yes but you note who came off worse - that's NOT a MIL I'd mess with!

If Buckies really are PVC - you might try the purple PVC cement that plumbers use - see video link

Pipe glue is what I was thinking for the PVC as well. Though the OP might want to go with clear primer/glue instead of purple to preserve the lifelike (deadlike?) look of the bones.
