Stumpy, and his sibling needed one more friend.
Going for more of the snapped off, burnt out old tree look this time.

I just love your trees.
I made one following the one you made, while it is not as good as the one you did, I'm still impressed with myself.:D
Now I want to do more of them, I think they are great.
I have an old tree by my garage.
The branches droop down close to the ground and on a moon light night it has the apperance of a spooky tree you would see in a scary movie.
I was thinking about a large skull situated where two limbs meet on the tree.
The sagging limbs hanging down to make it look like arms reaching for you.
Of course one of these days, while I'm in my little own world and not thinking, I'll go outside look up and get the p scared out of myself.:D

I got 6 skulls from ACC. Now I am ready to rock. I like the simple base that you made. I might have to use that for the 5 I had from last year. Plus use Trish's idea for the cloths. I think I will call mine StumpX. Because he will be part tree, part lizard, part man, part aardvark, and part stump. And if my wife lets me tear apart the sink, part sink repair man. It will be a hit.

I'm almost embarrased to put a pic of my tree here after seeing yours Krough.
But here it is anyway.
First I got the stain too dark and the trunk wasn't as wide as I wanted, but what the hell, its my first shot at it.:D

I really like the dark stain color, Strange1. I don't think you should change that at all on your next go 'round.

Very cool. Nice work. What kind of stain did you use? What did you use for an internal armature? PVC?

Trying a new texture/technique with the mache.I think once its painted it will look good. Trying to get more of a thicker bark look. What do you all think?

The texture on that one looks more tree-y than the other two. I think it'll look great! I like the little knot in there, too.

Looks good to me! I also like the half-skull head, there's just something about a missing jawbone that makes me shiver.

I used pvc and chicken wire for the armature.
I applied latex over the mache to protect it.
The stain was dark walnut, it was applied with the use of a spray gun.
I'm really starting to like mache.:D
I've already started another corpse using pvc, chicken wire and mache.
The mache makes the thing so much lighter and a lot easier to do.
This corpse will be impaled on a pike, facing the sky in the stlye of Vlad The Impailer.
My neighbors are just going to love me.:p
While the mache is drying on the corpse I will be working on a new tree.

Krough, I love the effect you created with the mache. Definately looks more tree like. Gonna have to give paper mache a try one of these days.

Dude, you are the master. I think I will start checking your website out more. You should have your own book.
