Billy's stone.

03-17-2010, 07:09 PM
Little billy was curious little boy. Unfortunately for Billy the prop he touched decided to touch back. Thus resulting in the need for a new stone.

The what sign would you be thread inspired me to create this stone.
It's meant to lay flat on the ground.

Material price list:
1/4 sheet foam - $10
Moss - $0.50
paint - $ 1.50
hot glue - $0.50
Labour - $7.50 Apparently I'm cheap.
Total - $20

Build description:

I attempted using a precision razor blade to cut the out the letters this time. Not to bad since i'm a shaky bugger. Paint was pretty simple just a base coat of medium grey. Dry brush some light grey and stipple on the moss green.

Hopefully you like.

I love a funny epitaph! And the lettering doesn't look the least bit shaky, either:) Did you use the blade to do the texture on the stone as well?

Texture was a 2" drywall trowel heated with a propane torch. Then lay the trowel flat and drag. The melting foam does the work.

Unique epitaph! Nice aging on that 'stone, Wildcat. I keep reminding myself that I need to jump into making foam tombstones someday...

Very Nice! I do like!
The heated trowel is a great idea!
How hot should the tool be in order to get a good looking melt?

03-17-2010, 11:29 PM
I heat the end 2" red hot.

03-17-2010, 11:49 PM
that is a great looking stone! I love the warning concept about not touching the props.

03-17-2010, 11:52 PM
