Sorry to keep asking about wall panels so dab-blamed much, but this question is a little different. You folks are familiar w/ the head on a table illusion, where you have a table with mirrors set between 2 pairs of table legs and with a hole in the table top?

Here's the thing about this prop ... you've got to surround the table with a uniform color. In the past, I've done this with black plastic clamped onto PVC, and it's usually an outdoor prop for me. PVC just doesn't do well outdoors.

Well ... the PVC is OK, but when you clamp black plastic to it .. eh, the wind can be brutal. So, here's what I'm planning instead:

3 plywood wall panels framed with 2x4s that are 4' high and long enough on each side to surround the table, like a rectangle with 3 sides ... PVC arches screwed into hardware on the long end with the open side for support & stability and, on the day of, clamp plastic onto this "roof" to additional cover in the event of rain.

So, I've got to figure out a good way to secure the 2 side panels (6'x4') to the larger back panel (8'x4'). Then, paint these on both sides with flat black. Think it's OK to leave this setup outside in rain after it's painted? This isn't pressure treated wood, and it's interior paint, but I figure it should all be OK for a few weeks come October.

And, I could really use recommendations on fasteners. I'd rather not screw the panels together with hardware like angle braces. Instead, it'd be nice to have something set up so I could just drop the side panels into some kind of fastener. I'm thinking of those metal fasteners you often see in dress pants .. the kind with a raised edge that fits into a metal slot ... what are those things called? Something like that for building projects would be really awesome.

I am not super familiar with your setup but have done stuff out in the rain that was painted, I found going to the local hardware store and talking to their paint department that you can often get what they call oops paint which is just colors that got mixed wrong so you may want to take a look and ask around at your local hardware stores because often times you can get these gallon or pint cans for dirt cheap like a couple bucks and if you can get a decent color in exterior paint you will be set for the rain, I have never tried interior paint but heard it can and will run depending on the quality of the paint.

If you have a home depot or lowes nearby they always have lots of these paints and also if you told them what your looking to do they could probably show you exactly what your referring to cause I also do not know the proper term for it but they will probably run some other options by you too, I did this for a project and they actually gave me some much easier and faster options for fastening panels together.
