Anyone do any large Projector FX for their haunts? If so, how did you do it and how did it turn out? I am not talking peppers ghost type things, but projection using large canvases or even the HOUSE as a "canvas"

This link is my inspiration.... but instead of something "techie" like this i was thinking more horrific/ dark/ haunty...

There was a guy a little while back who did this. He mounted a projector across the street in his neighbors yard to project on his house. He had to stop once the neighbors moved and the new neighbors did not like what he was doing. I'll see if I can drum up a link to his stuff.

That guy is still running it, he built stands for his projectors after the neighbor deal fell through.

Last year I built a rear 8' x 10' projection frame out of 2x2 lumber and a cheapo walmart bath curtain since we have to flat surfaces in the woods. I dressed the frame to look like a tunnel entrance and pieced together several projection vids that I made up. Good thing we placed it at the end or the trail, everyone wanted to stand and watch it over and over.
I used thumbscrews so the whole thing could be collapsed and rolled up for storage.

I loved the concept when I first saw it a few years ago but I don't have access to a projector. I believe it was projected in a pretty dark area. Otherwise it may not show very well. A projector with high Lumens is best. It would be wicked fun to experiment with the possibilities. Good luck!

What kind of projectors do you guys use (who use them), how much did they run you?
I'm currently looking at used video projectors on eBay, hoping for a good deal.

Last year, first attempt, I made a Power Point slide using various gif files (ghosts, heads, eyes, etc.) that I found on the internet. I made a single slide. Start with a black background and add images of your choosing. Through Power Point you can animate the images…have them move around on the slide, fade in/out etc. I mounted a projector Infoucus LP540, 1700 lumen) on a 10’ pole about 60’ from the house. Zoom to fit your area. Used a monitor cable extension and placed laptop below. “Protect the laptop”

The image was so large that it also projected on some old growth “huge” maple trees I have out back, so I added some white ghosts darting too and fro actually, that turned out to be the coolest effect because it would just catch your eye now and then.

The power point is crude compared to some of the video projects here but I thought it turned out well since I happen to have everything I needed on hand.

Unfortunately, it rained on Halloween last year so I didn’t get to display it. Didn't want to risk damaging equipment.

Hope it don’t rain this year.
