Purchased through Techplazallc, Their E-bay store can be found at http://stores.ebay.com/jazzrun
Made by Digital Galaxy in China.
This devise is rated at 2500 lumens brightness. And a native resolution on a 5” chip of 800 x 600.
Contrast 800:1 The black is very black on my white walls.

This is NOT the actual bulb but one that looks exactly like it with the same specs. The bulb is marked “150 watts D-E 10K” D-E means double ended. This bulb is very bright. It is a Metal Halide Not Quartz Halogen. The 10K means that the light output is 10,000 degrees on the Kelvin scale (on this scale 0 = absolutely no heat). This is a measure of light color in the clear blue range. Natural daylight is rated at 5,000 K.
I believe that 2500 Lumens is a conservative estimate. It is the nature of MH bulbs to lose some of their intensity over time. After the bulb burns for a year with an average operating time of 6 hours per day it will generally lose 20% of its original output of lumens. The color will shift from the shorter wavelengths (blue) toward the longer wavelengths (red) spectrum. This means that the bulb will last two years with daily use of 6 hours. It the projector is used for special viewing it will last a very long time. These bulbs are very inexpensive. Some on E-bay go for $30.00 or less. The unit I purchased from Techplazallc came with an extra bulb free. This means that my unit should last for at least 4 years before I will need to buy a lamp. By that time LED technology should have progressed to the point that replacement of the unit is affordable.
Picture Quality is in the eye of the beholder. If you want to see what the picture looks like set your monitor to 800X600. I have used the projector against a white wall in my home. I have found that with the projector placed about 10 feet from the wall I get a picture approximately 6 feet across horizontally. The image is very crisp and clear. I can read the end credits at the end of the movie clearly. I have found the contrast to be very good. The image is very impressive.
This unit has many surprising options. It can be set to project the image upside down (ceiling mount), mirror image (Rear Projection) or normally for front projection. The image can be easily switched at will from 4:3 to 16:9 and three levels of digital zoom using the remote of the case mounted buttons. Some other models dictate the ratio according to the input used. This unit leaves the decision completely up to you. It has a manual keystone adjustment that worked well with my projector sitting on an 18 inch table projecting onto the living room wall. I have read reviews where people spoke of the “Screen Door effect” on the image due to the pixels. If you go up close you can see them. I believe that a farer description would be a “No See Um” effect. The pixel s are very small and from a normal viewing distance un-noticeable. The projector comes with a very good remote with all functions easily found. The unit itself has most of the same options by accessing buttons on top. The speakers are sufficient for normal viewing. They are on par with the stock speakers that are built into our regular stereo television.
If you want to replace your family television for daily use in a sunny room then this unit is probably not for you. But if you want a projector for use in a darkened room then you have come to the right place.
We have watched Disney’s “The great Fairy Rescue” and Warner Brother’s “Harry Potter”. The animated movie looked very crisp and the live action was excellent. Conclusion, I love this thing! I have been looking for a projector for several years. The $320.00 price tag with an extra bulb and free shipping from China with support in Chicago, finally tipped the scales in my favor. I sent my order on Sunday September 12, 1010. The package arrived in Cincinnati OH on Wed the 15th. Due to the very rural location of my home the package was handed over to the US postal Service and sent Priority Mail. It arrived Wednesday 9/22/10. The unit was double boxed and insulated from shock by well fitting polyfoam blocks and bubble wrap. The projector arrived without a scratch. The nice folks from Techplazallc were great. They answered my E-mails and did a good job of holding my hand as I waited for my projector. If their service is anywhere as good as their communication I believe I made a very good choice.
