Finally, I have finished!

This (http://www.fotosearch.com/DGT163/ceu0093/) stone, the one in the front on the right, was the inspiration.
Materials Used
1" thick pink insulation foam = $5 (very generously prorated for the size of the stone)
1 can rejected latex indoor/outdoor paint (brown) = $1
Scrap wood for base = free, taken from discarded pallets
Stone fleck spray paint = 2 cans at $4 a can
Triple expanding spray foam = $3, generic brand
Antique White craft paint = $.79
Clear spray-on sealant = $1.97
Total cost = $19.76
With the materials listed above, I made a total of 3 stones and touched up a couple of last year's. Everything but the latex paint, I already had laying around the house. Figured I'd list the prices, anyway, though. ;)
I've found that the Great Stuff style foam (I use the generic brand because it's half the cost and works just as well for my purposes) holds my tombstones onto their bases better than anything else I've tried, especially with as windy as it can get here in October. I don't recommend settling for the 1" foam like I did unless you're planning on building a stone this small, for pretty much the same reason--doesn't hold up well when it's gusty out.
