last year the challenge was going on, at least the first page with the info was Jan. 31 , 2010, no big hurries or worries, just a general question!:)

I, too, am curious. I can't be considered for a prize this year, but I have a couple of good ideas for a show-and-tell entry.

Last year the rules were posted on 1/31/10.

Keep in mind that the Hauntforum 2010 DVD deadline for video submissions is the end of this month. So next month, the DVD compilation may take some of ZF's time.

Please submit material if you haven't already. The sale of the DVD set is what helps keep the lights on here and we could use the help! Hauntforum Shop (http://shop.hauntforum.com/)

Hey, no rush, Haunti. You're right - Z will be busy (can't wait to get the 2010 DVD!). Gives me more de-bugging time.

I think Zombie is still facing a heavy work schedule and hasn't had time to get this organized yet.

Crack the whip on that boy! I planned on participating this year!

RoxyBlue

I expect he feels he has several whips cracking on him at the moment:)

Aside from the time needed to put together the contest, he also puts a lot of time into trying to get donations for the prizes. That takes more effort than it would seem. As I recall, last year the top prize was donated at almost the last minute, so it's not an easy task for ZombieF each year.

Just curious - Would you guys enter a prop contest if no prizes were offered - in other words, just for the joy of being recognized by your peers as one of the top three?

Otaku

Yeah, for sure! It's the anticipation wondering what will others come up with, and of what I can make within the time limit and the rules/requirements. As DA said the chance of winning a prize is a well loved perk but not a requirement. Plus, we normally have the 20$ contest right as the weather is beginning to warm up and I really do have the ability to get properly started. It's the beginning of prop building season, the official start!

I don't think anyone expects free handouts, just the accolades from our peers. (Although I won't turn down prizes! :jol:)

I'm in it for the RESPECT!...oh wait, I just stole that line from Hib...

anyways, I remember the 20 buck contest was originally gonna be for just fun, no prizes, but Frighteners entertainment threw in a talking through boris the first time around, and it went from there.

If I am eligible to enter I would compete...for old times sake if for nothing else.

Otaku
04-01-2011, 09:59 PM
I'm with you, Doc.

Of course, if someone wants to throw in a Talk-Thru Boris, that's OK too...LOL

So are we simply awaiting an announcement for this?

RoxyBlue
04-02-2011, 03:41 PM
Pretty much, Fright Guy. I did send a PM to ZombieF to bounce the idea of a prize-free contest off him. His work schedule being what it is, it could be a bit before I hear back, and I think it appropriate to get his blessings before proceeding.

It's nice to know folks would participate just for fun, and it'd equally fun even if you don't participate, but just watch the creativity on a limited budget roll.

Doc, I'd love to see you participate if this gets off the ground. You make cool stuff:)

I'm getting back into the swing of things so I'd expect this to be starting sometime within the next month.

I'm scaling our propbuilding contests back to just two a year from this point on. I will also be trying to work in some special things here and there to keep you guys coming back for more.

I am in - prizes we don't need no stinkin prizes we are haunters and we get a great and cheap prop out of the deal. Everyone still thinks that my 2o dollar prop (I want candy) is still one of my best props! cheap does not mean bad. Creativity is the key.

Yes, a motor. Definitely a motor. And I'll have my usual arguement with Zombie-f about using blacklight to photograph the prop without having to include the cost of the black light. What do you say Z, could I do it this time? :D Please? :D:D

That's good because I'm thinking of doing something other than prizes this time. It gets really difficult to round up prizes and I always feel bad that Monster Guts and Frighteners are always offering up extra stuff to fill in the empty prize slots.

I'm considering trophies or something along those lines this time. We'll have to see what I can come up with.

Well, ya know, I understand that a lot of haunters around here work for beer:D:googly:

I think there are enough folks here who would be happy to compete for the distinction of getting that coveted top three billing. Your prize donators have been very generous, but it's appropriate to give them some time off for good behavior. Not that Jeff is known for good behavior, of course....

What about a Hauntforum tee-shirt or a Hauntforum DVD? Just an idea, but if it is hard to get prizes than don't sweat it because I believe we would have enough people to enter the contest without them.
