View Full Version : What Contest Theme Next?

Ok guys, we have a choice here. The next contest theme is up in the air because there's so many to choose from and so many differing opinions as to what's next. The next contest will be ending at the end of September, and it can be one of the following:
Scarecrow Building - Build the scariest scarecrow.
Monster Mud - Fun with monster mud.
Signs - Design a sign for your haunt.
The poll will be open for 3 days, closing at about 1:00 PM EDT on Tuesday July 11, 2006. At that point, the poll option with the most votes will be the next contest theme and I will create a forum and discussion threads to start working on rules.
So, which theme do YOU think should be next?

I know I can't and haven't participated in these contests as of yet, but my vote went for the scarecrow. I would like to see someone top that fucker over on Pumpkinrot. Unbelievable! :jol:

I love the sign idea but not everyone has a name for their haunt. I voted for the scarecrow. It seems like such a simple idea but with this group of people the outcomes will all be different. It sounds more challenging to me too.

Regardless of what is picked, I love the idea of keeping the cost low...I think it levels the playing field and forces everyone to be super-creative!

I vote monster mud because it's something I was planning on trying this year anyway. A scarecrow doesn't fit into my haunt anywhere.

LOL! I'm laughing, because as of this post, the votes are a 3 way tie! Hmmmm..I know I have no room for a Scarecrow. I'm already making a groundbreaker out of Mache, so Mud is out, as I have no room for a full size statue. But a spooky sign in my graveyard would be awesome. I vote signs.

I went with the scarecrow, because it will help me get my rear in gear and get mine done for Halloween, instead of throwing a pumpkin and some cloth over a pole again like last year. Any of the above will make a great contest, though. I'm excited for whatever we end up doing. ;)

Okay, I voted for the sign because being new to haunting, I need something for the front of the entrance to my carport. :-D

I agree with TipoDeemin: Any of the above will make a great contest! But I'd like to see what everyone can come up with for a scarecrow!

Sign...Not everyone can use a scarecrow and most MM props are hard to store. So I vote for signs, even if your haunt isnt named, a good "candy this way" or "beware of spooks" sign could fit in.Just my 2 cents

I voted for scarecrows but I understand some folks not needing one. Signs would probably bring in more entries. :)

Im voting on the sign as I just need to get my butt in gear to make myself one for this year....
list: sign for haunt, board up 8 windows, finish witch, create walk, create sound and lighting....
Got my hands full without adding a scarecrow or MM this year... so thats my vote!

Did you ever think about combining them all three together? A scarecrow that has monster mudd on it, like my Johnny Appleseed, and then adding a sign to the scarecrow.
Or you could do what Krough suggested. Team prop making. Two or three members team up. One has to make the scarecrow. The other one has to make the sign. The 2nd members would ship the sign to the first member who has the scarecrow. This would mean that the sign couldn’t be too big due to shipping cost. And precise measurements would have to be relayed from the 1st member to the 2nd member in order to make the sign fit the scarecrow. So even if member 1 has this awesome scarecrow, it would do him no good unless the 2nd member made the sign to fit the scarecrow. Plus when the 2nd member ships the sign, the sign has to be disassembled so that the 1st member has to reassemble it back and then make it fit the scarecrow. How does that sound? Or we could just do robot wars in front of Zombie’s house. Now that would be cool!

LOL Robot wars with killer squirting rats?
How about scarecrow wars? we could have teams making robotic scarecrows that will do battle. j/k
Back on track here...
This sure is a close race between the Signs and the Scarecrow. Monster Mud seems to have slipped behind a bit.

Looks like you might have to flip that coin again, Zombie! Tied up even between signs and scarecrows. MM slipped behind a bit? I think it's safe to say MM is out.

I'm voting scarecrow as I've always wanted to make one. We don't need a sign for our haunt as Vlad already made one two years ago for our Haunt.
LOL, What sign??????? Signs, vote signs everyone!!!!!! By the way, does this include signposts??

Not sure. That will be up for debate if the Signs theme wins out.

Sorry had to vote for scarecrow. Pumkinrot has inspired me and i definitley need a center peice for the yard. I hope the time span is a little longer than the tombstone as everyone else there are multiple unfinished projects in ye olde shop. This is gonna be fun.
