If we stick with the suggested plan, the next meeting will be July 9. Let's see how that works for everyone.

I know there was some interest in making a "Fester" prop from some of the members. Greg has some suggestions in his post in the "June" thread. If you want to make one, I suggest that you check it out and then post some feedback to see what the interest is.

I kind of liked the meeting yesterday...everyone working on their own stuff. It kind of flowed nicely. However, if you want to do a group project, that works too. Personally, I'll pass on it because I have party details to tend to and probably will be working on stuff for the rest of the make and takes. Having everyone here, working on projects, gives me the incentive to get busy and work on things that I would probably put off a bit.

OK...discussion is on! Please post on whether the date works for you and your idea for the project. If you don't want to make one, please feel free to bring whatever you ARE working on and still join us.

Im in for the Fester build. Great prop and will go nicely with the grave grabber. Looked like everyone had fun yesterday, I'm sorry I missed out but I need to help my dad out with some stuff. I did get some stuff done at night on my own though. My Twisted Toy box is coming along and I started on one of my carnival booths late last night. Pics coming soon.

Okay...I have a wedding on that weekend in upstate NY so its a no go for me. August might be a problem too....

I wasn't going to make a fester anyhoo....

Here's what I posted in the June thread about a possible "Fester" build. I copied it here so you didn't have to go back and forth.

Please understand that I won't be insulted in the least if a majority decides not to build him. Yes he's cool, but also a much more complicated build than our grabbers were. It will consume at least two meetings and a LOT of my time to get it all together (Which I am Happy to do).

If the majority of us wants to build fester, I might ask that we have our 2nd build meeting at my place. There are two distinct advantages to doing the final assembly at my house: 1) MUCH Less traffic. 2) I won't have to pack 400lbs of tools to make it happen. I live only 5 minutes from rt 78 near Clinton NJ. Oh, and I have a HUGE assortment of screws, Nuts, Bolts, etc, as a back up supply, so No one should have to make an emergency run to HD or Lowes. I also have a large carport for inclimate weather.

For those that want to build a "Fester".

Fester will be a 2 meeting project. It's Highly unlikely we'd be able to finish him in one meeting. So here's what I suggest, Most of us need Hands for the grabbers that we already made and possibly a skull too. Fester also needs two hands and a skull. We can probably make the hands and rough skull(s) in the morning (July MnT). For those that prefer to buy a skull, feel free to do so.
We should also rough out a few of the wooden components for Fester in the afternoon. Having some of the wooden pieces Cut to length will greatly expedite the construction on day#2 (August). Also in our July meeting we should get our "Vent motors" working (they need some minor "Tweaks" to work reliably) and get the basic crank arm attached. That will mean that we'll need to bring our vent motors and a power supply (12V Wall wart), to test them and make sure they are up to the job of making Fester struggle out of his grave for many years to come.

So in Summary, a Fester build will be:

July Meeting- Hands, Skull, Vent motor prep, and cut certain Parts to length and size.

August Meeting- Drill, Cut, Assemble Fester.

All of this of course is subject to majority approval from the group

We can also ask Joe if he has any extra vent motors from that huge order he placed last year. They are much cheaper than the Deer motors at around $3 + S/H.

Let's get some feedback in our July thread (Patty??) as to what everyone wants to do. Fester will be a challenging build even for experianced haunters. He needs some "Tweaking" to make him run smooth and problem free. So we'll need an early start, especially for the Second build day.

Hey Greg,

I'm definitely down for building Fester (probably a couple of Festers), but is it really a two-session build? I know it would be awesome to actually leave a M&T with a completed project (at least once in awhile), but it seems to me at worst the heads and hands can be worked on at home if not at the M&T itself. How long can cutting pieces to length really take?

Of course, everything always takes longer than imagined (helped along by copious amounts of alcohol...at least for me [no more Four Loko, Sharon! Blech!]), but how many parts are there that they can't be cut relatively quick and the motors tweaked? Certainly no more than an hour or so for everyone, assuming everyone would be making one.

We can plan on a two-meeting build, but I think we should also plan on jumping ahead to the next stage if things go more smoothly than imagined. So, yeah, hump all those tools to Pattie's next month!

I'm just impatient, that's all. I have the attention span of a small marsupial so I like things done right away.

Rich, From experiance, it's a two session build. The hands and skull are integrel to the prop and it's motion.

Greg,

"The hands and skull are integrel to the prop and it's motion."

Do they have to be sized a certain dimension or can it be a $5 foam skull from Walgreens, or even a wighead or paper mache head? Do the hands need to be a certain size?

I'm just thinking that if not then anyone wanting to build Fester could make a set of hands and a head at home to bring with them. I understand they're a key component of the prop, I'm just not sure I want to spend an entire make-and-take making them. :D

I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass here (not much, anyway), I'm just looking to speed up the process a bit. Want, want, want! More, more, more!

Rich

Who figures if we can't spend endless hours debating what day the next make & take will be we can now endlessly debate the mechanics of each meeting... :p

LOL Rich.... Whaa Whaaaaaa Whaaa....

No matter how ya slice it I won't be able to get a Fester build together (The mechanical part) till our August meeting. I will be attending the July meeting, but Might have one of my kids in tow (Up from Arkansas). That's why I suggested what I did. MANY of us (Including you) need a light weight hand for the grabber so why not make a bunch and get a little ahead on the Fester build.

Group build of 3 or 4 hands each---2-3+ hours (Skull not included)
Group tweaking of Gear motor and install main crank 1-2 hours
Group Pre-cutting some parts for Fester 2-3 hours
Group hand carving skull 2-3+ hours

Edit: Yes you can use any foam skull for fester as long as it's not hollow.

That's 8-11 hours of potential build time filled up, depending on weather people want to carve a skull. A VERY Full day if 10 or more people are participating in "Fester related" projects.

Again, I'm flattered that people want to build him, but I also don't want to monopolize the group and thier time. So EVERYONE speak up as to what they want to do.

GhoulishCop

Greg,

Fine, be that way! I will test out my new medium of homemade finely ground clay powder to make the the hands. And I'll probably build a paper mache skull. Of course, with all the excess foam we're going to have laying around after Pattie gets down carving her Oscar statue from that big block she's got, there ought to be enough left over to carve some skulls out too.

I'll also be bringing along the next stage of my grave digger prop (the lower extremities) in the event I've got some time left over.

As an early heads up, assuming the weather's nice, I'll probably want to head over to the flea market again. There weren't many vendors there last time due to the threat of rain, but mid-July with nice weather ought to have them out in force.

Pattie, you've been forewarned. I'll be waking you up by 9 a.m.!

Greg,

And I'll probably build a paper mache skull.

Rich

Weight is critical with this prop. I suspect that a paper mache' skull might be too heavy, especially after adding something inside it to mount it.

Always have to march to your own drum, Huh Rich?? LOL ;)

Hi every one, checked out videos from last M&T, awsome jobs on videos and some great props. Nice work on those head stones Pattie (Note: Romela got some cool scene setters for you, for the party, they are quite large). Sorry we have been MIA been busy with work, spilling over to some Saturdays and other spare time helping clean up my Father's house and barn. If we come across anything good while cleaning up, for props, will let you guys know. Hope all is well with everyone. -Devin & Romela

I thought we were building Fester, no? Or for those that might not want one, it was BYOProp. I've got a few small things I'll be bringing with me just in case there's some time left over.

If we are going with Fester, do you need me to bring any power tools Greg? Chop saw, drills, hand grinder, etc.?

Oh, and yeah, I know it's off topic (actually especially because it's off topic) and in the event you might have missed the announcement elsewhere, Jay (FrightGuy) is now part of the Hauntcast team and will be featured on the new July show coming out soon. Very cool.

All I know is he better be more entertaining on the show... :D

Rich

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, It is highly unlikely that I can put together a full "Fester" build for the July meeting. If we are indeed building "Fester" it would have to be at the August meeting for the main chassis and moving parts.

Also mentioned earlier, We could get a good head start on fester by building his hands and Possibly the skull at our July meeting. We could also prep our "vent" motors, including attaching the crank arm and linkage, altering the innerds slightly and attaching (Soldering) a wall wart and then testing them. For those that want to use a store bought skull, it should be foam and very light weight. We could also prep the skull by inserting the turning mechanism.

These build items might seem underwhelming, but they take a considerable amount of time and would make it possible to have a working prop by the end of the August meeting.

I know that Rich, Sharon, Tom, and a few others have expressed an interest in this project. However, since it will take at least 2 meetings to build, I feel we should get some feedback from others. If the Interest level stays low (3-4 people), I would suggest we build something else for July and August. I will still be doing an online tutorial in the next month and would be willing to host a separate "Fester" build at my location.

Hey guys and ghouls!!!

Thanks for the shout our Rich! I know I haven't been posting on here this past week or two but I've been working hard on my segment trying to ensure it won't suck haha! I hope to do you guys proud and of course I will try and be entertaining haha! Be sure to listen to the July Hauntcast for the debut of my segment which I cannot divulge and secrets about unfortunately but I will say I am not the only new segment and some of the current segments will be infused with some new things as well so it aims to be a pretty great edition of Hauntcast.

As for the July M&T I am interested in the Fester build. I suppose if there is something we could start at the meeting that will help us get a jump start to the build I wouldn't mind doing that. Right now I'm pretty focused on building my mache creatures for my haunt along with my circus booths and such so I'll probably bring some of that stuff with me to keep pushing ahead on as I have a lot to do!

I would be interested in either making Fester at the August meeting and prepping the hands and skull and wart on my own before or as a separate get together (just want a Fester to call my own :biggrinkin:)

On another note, at our last meeting some of us were searching for the Haunted house episode of the Little Rascals. I stumbled on the following related web site the other day The Haunted Closet has a blog on that very subject: http://the-haunted-closet.blogspot.com/2010/01/spooky-little-rascals-our-gang-episodes.html

As well as a Little Rascals web page with the video! Hide and Shriek is the episode in question. http://heustess.com/episodes.htm

See everyone in August.

I love Fester, but I have so many things to do before the haunt. I think I will work on a few projects I need to finish up on. Yes Congrats Jay! Everyone wants to do thier own thing. We've obviously all evolved in our desires for projects. I see this as the wave of the future in our group unless someone with as much influence as Ken (Vlad) can intervine.

A tutorial and redesign of fester for a group build will simply take too much time for me given the lack of interest in our group. I'm cancelling the group build for now untill there is more interest. Sorry folks. it really does take that much time. He's custom built on the fly without measurements and expectations. I'd have to reconstruct him a second time and idiot proof the design against some really dangerous cuts on a power saw and then take a ton of measurments and a whole slew of other things. I'm really not trying to be a dick here, but he is a much more complicated build than he appears (aren't most good things??). I think someone else should suggest a project for this month so I can bring my son to the July meeting and actually enjoy myself and introduce hi m to some really cool people.

Fester is a two meeting build. Unless there is a groundswell of people that wantr yto be dedicated to a two meeting build than I refuse to deal with the confusion that will ensue.

The OAGG damn near killed me to put together and that is barely half the work as fester. And I'd bet that less than 3 of you actually finished him to "Halloween ready" condition.

I will do the tutorial online for our hauntforum friends, and we can decide at a later date if we have enough dedication to accomplish a project like fester.

Greg since it is getting closer to Halloween people tend to finish up on projects they started, but didn't complete. I would love to make Fester, but I think that would be a better project for the winter. Also our group is big, so some suggestions for projects that people wanted to do other people have done already. So that means not everyone will always participate and they would end up bringing there own projects. I'm sure we can discuss it at the next meeting. I know one of the things that people wanted to learn about was monster mud. Maybe Rich could demonstrate on a small item, so we can see how to go about using it. I know people use fabric and I would love to see how you would go about using monster mud on fabric. Just a suggestion!

Greg, fester is an awesome prop and id be happy to build it whenever everyone is ready to do it as I umderstand the time that is involved on your end. Any prop that involves me learning a new set of skills or helps me refine my techniques im in for.

As for a monster mudd tutorial..i think thats great! Ive never used it but always have been interested so hopefully Rich wont mind giving us an overview..i mean you already owe us all all mailbox tutorial haha! Why not add this on too!

One last note...does anyone need or want to do voiceovers for their haunt this year. If you do I can bring my laptop and mic set up and we can play with those at the M&T record add effects then burn a disc for you to take that day. Any excuss to use my new mic set up im for!

Jay-if I was doing a haunt this year it would have been perfect. There MAY be something I can do for the party tho so yeah, that would be cool.

Greg-I agree with Sharon. We all seem to be going in different directions right now as far as haunts/parties stuff is concerned, and the closer it gets, the more likely we are to be trying to finish up what is already started instead of starting a new project. I think that doing that over the winter would be a good idea and since you have all the tools and stuff at your place, maybe you should just do the two meetings needed to make that prop up at your place. It certainly would make it easier if everything was already there.

As for me, I made it clear that I'm not doing much of anything except party details. While it may seem rude to not be joining in, I have to finish these things up.

Also, the way I look at it, I don't care if we are all working on different projects. It's always just fun to hang out with everyone and I find I can get inspired to work on things I may other wise put off if everyone is here bringing the prop building energy! Besides, we don't all need the same props, so if most of you want to make something, and some of us don't, that's OK. You can all work on one thing while the rest work on something else. I think it's fun just seeing you all. Maybe I'm thinking wrong tho, because while that's the way we started off, it's evolving into something else, just because of everyones needs and interests. Either way, it's fine with me and I hope that you all feel the same way. After being with young children all week, this is like grandma's play time...LOL.

Oh, Greg, if you bring your kids with you, feel free to bring bathing suits and towels for them if they'd like to jump in the pool. With cool nights and all the rain the water isn't heating up very fast but all the kids don't seem to mind much.

I thought it was fun when we had the Make and Take at my house with the carnival going on down the road. We could have a fire...(oh crap what am I suggesting????) and maybe grill some burgers and hot dogs? Just something to bring up at the upcoming meeting. :) I will find out what the carnival dates are before our next meeting!

Sharon,

That was a blast last year! Just make sure you send Good Neighbor Mike (that's his name, right?) out on a beer run again! And from a completely selfish standpoint, getting off at Exit 136 instead of 100 and so avoiding all the summer shore traffic will be awesome.

As for the July M&T, I'm sorry Greg's decided to bail on the beginnings of a Fester build. Seemed to me we had an otherwise good response to the suggestion. I'm thinking he was just being a lazy SOB and didn't want to do the tutorial. :D

I'd be willing to show how I use Monster Mud for those that are unfamiliar with the medium. I just got done today making the lower torso and legs for my Gravedigger prop using MM so I'm getting some good practice in ahead of time. Depending on how lazy I am, I may bring the upper torso with me and demonstrate on that. Or some other project. I'll figure it out ahead of time. Or that morning before I leave to go to Pattie's. Either or.

I'll be bringing my foam cutting table with me too (I think) and possibly work on some tombstones that I want to build from all the great foam I got from Pattie last time. So much to do, so little time.

Pattie,

A person needs to have priorities in life, you know.

And Greg, aside from lazy, you're apparently sensitive too. Exploring your feminine side these days, I see. Of course I was kidding. Didn't you see the smiley face? You're able to say the most horrible things about someone as long as you include an emoticon because that makes it all better! :p

While I am disappointed over not being able to build Fester (because I'm too lazy to try and figure it out on my own), perhaps it's for the best. I do have other props that need finishing and I've got a benchtop full of half-finished ones already. Last thing I need is another one "I'll finish later."

So stop yer belly-achin', man up, and get that tutorial done and posted on the boards so if I find a free minute I can completely steal your hard work.

Greg I understand about the fester and I know how much work you put into the grave grabber prop - so its cool no worries we can make the fester from the tutorial - I need to make a hand for my grave grabber anyway. I will bring my foam table and Y cutter. I am thinking about some improvements to the table that we can test out. Since you will have your son with you we would not want you so busy running from station to station that you will not be able to spend any time with him. BTW good luck on the $20 prop contest. I will also be bringing some 12 volt wall warts that we can use for the vent motors. We can prep some motors with the wall warts if anyone would like to do that? If you want to also add a plug we can do that as well (it can always be added later if needed). Here is a plug that we could use but anything will work even an RCA plug.

Joe, since it looks like you'll be able to make it this month, I have a question....do you think you could possibly come up with a design to make a foam cutter that will carve through this block of foam? I have an idea to try to carve it down into something for a party prop, so it needs to be something I can use while this thing is standing up straight and I'm on a ladder. Dimensions are approximately 3 1/2 - 4 feet thick, maybe 4 feet wide and 8 feet tall. Any suggestions? I've tried looking for ice sculpters or those lumberjack guys that do chainsaw carvings with no luck. I suppose I could use a sawzall with a non serated blade but there would still be foam all over everything. I'd much prefer to use some kind of cutter, if it could be light enough for me to hold.

Anyone else that may want to take this challenge, also feel free to post ideas. :googly:

Patti I will make a Y cutter as large as the guitar string will allow - it might be large enough. If not then we can cut off the corners before we trim down the sides. I think it can be done. How big a piece of foam do you want to end up with?

Sorry to hear about your mom. We'll keep her in our prayers.

Jpe, I want to end up with an 8 foot tall Oscar statue (or close to that size) for the Halloween party, since the theme is Horray for Horrorwood, or Hollywood, depending on what costume you choose to wear...lol.

Do you think piano wire would work? I don't know how long they are but just thinking they may be thicker. Since I know nothing of either type though, I don't know which is best. Kep track of your expenses so I can give you the money for it. Thanks. This is my last shot at doing something with this foam before it gets donated to another haunter ...:(

Patty, If you have a projector of some kind you can project a picture onto your foam, and then trace the front view with a sharpie. That will allow you or Joe to really take some big chunks out with the enhanced wire cutter. If not the just do a rough draw on the front and the side making sure that certain profiles match from front to side (like the neckline, shoulders, Hips, knees etc). This way we can cut pieces off even if we start by cutting the corners. It can be done, even if the wire cutter isn't physically large enough to cut the parts out in giant chunks.

What about a chain saw? Oh and Pattie I like that idea, so I'm glad you will be able to use it! Sorry about your Mom Halloweenjerzeeboy! She is lucky to have you to help her out in these tough times.

I actually have a projector I use to enlarge stuff, and I was going to try that before I start cutting. We'll see how this works. I'm beginning to feel like I'm getting in WAY over my head for some stupid little detail that really won't matter in the long run. Right? I mean, as long as there is food, music, etc people should have a good time. But NOOO.....I have to obsess over everything this time around, from the details on the food buffet to making sure the DJ has the right music, to decorations. :googly:

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. Speaking of that, has anyone heard from Ken and Karen?? Will they be Comming??

Yes I will be bring Fester and his Naked cousin. Now that I have more or less worked the bugs out and finished the basic tutorial, we can build him anytime we want.

Sorry to hear that you are not coming Jeff and Carl! :( I'm not sure what I will be bringing for food, but you know me I usually come with some sort of Walmart frozen item! :) As for the flea market it doesn't seem like anyone wants to go, so I guess I will be meeting at 11am at Patties!?!?!

Yeah, I was going to ask what time to expect everyone. I'm thinking of just throwing something on the grill since it's too hot to cook inside right now. If anyone wants to jump in the pool, please bring your own towels (I lose more towels in the summer from people who don't bring one and then take mine home with them!!!) I'll be working on party stuff and basically just hanging out.

Just as a heads up, even though I said our schedule is open until September, it turns out that we booked up August too and can't host next month. Someone else feel free to jump in and take over. Since I probably won't see everyone for a few months, I'll try to have everyone's invitations done this weekend. I know, it's four months early, but I can't afford to mail these out if I can hand deliver them instead. Sorry for such a long, advanced notice, especially since most people lose an invitation or forget about it after just a few weeks...LOL.

I don't think so Joe. I still haven't figured out the menu, and right now it's too hot to even think about it..lol. Whatever it is I'll figure it out later and take care of it. I can guarantee that it will be simple tho. No more big meals till after the party...all my money has to go towards that! I don't know what I was thinking doing this again...lol.

Hey, nice buns!

I'll be down early for the flea market tomorrow. And I'll have my show-and-tell materials. Assuming it's not raining, I'll probably be taking a dip in the pool too. See you all tomorrow.

Stay away from my buns or what little of them I have Rich!!!! Hey Rich if you are going to go to the flea market do you want to go together (what time if you want to go)? Also I have a lot of white paint that I was able to get from friends. Does anyone need any paint??? If so than I will bring it with me. Rich don't you need some for the monster mud project????

GhoulishCop
07-08-2011, 06:33 PM
Well, since my demo project is small, I was going to use some of the pre-made mud I already have on hand. But extra paint is always good regardless of the color. If no one else wants it I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

What time is good for you? We came down around 9 a.m. last time so if you want that works for me and we don't even have to bother Pattie. We can just drop off a vehicle and head over in the other (though bothering Pattie is always fun). If you want earlier too, that works for me as well. I'm flying solo this month since Jeff decided spending time with his family in Lake George is more important than Halloween. Some people. So I can make it any time.

I will bring what ever paint I have left and you guys can figure out who gets what. :) Some of the lids are rusted, but I believe the paint should be ok. I actually took what paint I needed to fill my 5 gallon bucket with and it all seem like it was decent. I have to paint haunt walls in the future, so I took what I needed. I think 9am at Pattie's house sounds good to head out for the flea market! If the weather is nice I would love to go swimming, especially since it will be an easy build day for our Make and Take!

Greg,

You might want to bring a bucket of spackle depending on the size of your project. You can use the paint Sharon is bringing to mix into it. If you're going to be making a full, 5 gallon bucket, I'll have my drill and paint mixer with me. What I've begun doing is making smaller batches and keeping it in the 1-lb. plastic coffee cans I collect. It stays surprisingly long in them (I've used metal cans and it's dried out much faster).

My project will be a mini-Reaper using one of the 12" or so tall skeletons I've had laying around. I'll also have some sheets and burlap so people can see the two materials and how it responds. I've really come to like using sheets rather than burlap, but for a large man-sized reaper I'd probably use burlap only because it gives an added creepiness to the look.

Other than that working with Monster Mud is really simple (and messy, so make sure you're wearing crappy clothes if it's going to be a big project). Along with paper mache, Monster Mud is my favorite medium to work in.

I have a few different kinds of spackle here, I'll bring them. Can you monster mud a balloon????

trishaanne
07-08-2011, 08:17 PM
You guys can show up whenever you want, I'll be up. All I have to do is vacuum the pool in the morning, since it's been raining HARD most of the afternoon and I couldn't get out there to do it. The rain is really messing up the water, making it cloudy and stuff, but we added a bunch of chlorine today and hopefully it will last through this latest storm. Only problem is that it makes the water temp drop too!

GhoulishCop

Greg,

You can Mud just about anything. I haven't tried a balloon, but I imagine you can. The only problem I foresee is the material sliding on the surface of the balloon, though perhaps using a "drier" mix, one that's less than the typical 5:1 ratio of spackle to paint, might help it adhere better. It'll be fun to find out though!

Well it is morning and I have to load the paint in the car and go to Walmart before I head down to meet Rich for the flea market! I am very excited to watch Rich's demonstration on Monster Mud. I love working with Paper Mache, so it should be interesting to see how it is to work with Monster Mud. If Greg is going to mix the Monster Mud than wait until we have the demonstration because I want to see how much paint he puts in compared to spackle. Looking forward to the meeting!!!

I've used monster mud and without a paint mixer it's a PITA! Maybe while you're out at the flea market one of you can find a cheap tarp or old tablecloth or something to spread down so I don't have to scrape it off the patio after you leave. Remember, I am going to be trying to sell this place..lol

Pattie,

I've got some plastic sheeting so no worries! (yeah right)

If someone has some PVC cement could they bring it with them to save me a trip to the store? I need a few swabs and apparently my can was left opened so it dried out. I'll be heading out in a few and should be there by 9.

Cheers,
Rich

Sounds like everyone had a great time at the M&T. Im really missing seeing everyone but I was in Boston with my wife (it was her BDay present) we were wandering some awesome cemeteries. I highly suggest going if you never have. It was a 4 hour car ride which went by pretty quick and the burial grounds are awesome! I mean true tombstones with "death heads" as they call them, you know, the ones with the skull and bones atop them. There were amazing. I took a lot of pictures and video which I should be posting soon both on my blog and on my flickr site and will be posting a vlog on my youtube page probably tomorrow with all my video. Hopefully next M&T I can make it back out.

FRIGHTGUY

The cemeteries where right in Boston though the largest of them (The Mount Auburn Burial Grounds) was just right outside the city. The Granary, Copps Hill and Kings Chapel were all within walking distance of one another and were along the Freedom Trail which is easily followed through town. The Granary has the most famous people in it such as John Hancock, Sam Adams, Paul Rever and Ben Franklin. You can't do and Rubbings however, if you really wanted to try and sneak one you probably could. We had paper and lead pencils in hand to try but we just felt bad so we didn't but I would have loved a rubbing of any of the tombstones there. The sayings were just classic! Nothing like todays...definitley a must see!
