View Full Version : MA September Make and Take

I'd be happy to host a M&T at my house in Ayer on September 24. My large 30' x 30' garage will be cleared out in preparation for setting up my haunt, so we'll have plenty of covered workspace in the event of rain. I have enough power tools, including compound mitre saws and a compressor, to cover pretty much any project. I also have a new deck, perfect for grillin' and chillin'.
I realize it's a bit far for the South Shore crowd, but the event Chris mentioned would be on their ride home. Let me know if folks are interested (we should probably start a new thread).
Thanks again Dave for the hospitality. I have September 24th open. That evening there is a Creature Double Feature Round Up 2 in Norwood at the Sheraton Four Point Conference Center on Route One. Creature Double Feature and Creature Double Feature on WLVI . I'm going to promote Hauntcast and it sounds like a lot of fun.
What Say you Haunters?

Anyone else going to be in for this one?
I'm either going to work on one of the posable PVC figures or else work on my well from "The Ring".

Since I am hosting, I guess you can count me in.
I want to do a cemetery in the side yard between my house and garage this year. So on the 24th my focus will be on tombstones. After seeing this technique in How to Haunt Your House by Shawn and Lynne Mitchell, I plan to dress up some store-bought tombstones with fake moss made from dryer lint as described here (http://poolandpatio.about.com/od/holidaydecoratingideas/ss/Halloween_Prop_Fake_Moss.htm). I'll make an extra big batch, so if anyone wants to apply the moss to a prop, you can help yourself.
I also have free slabs of blue foam (thanks to Joe from the June M&T) if anyone wants to carve their own tombstones. Personally, I'm not that good at it, but I have two Dremel tools, two woodburners, and a hot wire foam cutter if folks feel like going to town.
Of course, this begs the question: is September 24th too early to start setting up my cemetery? ;)

Count the House of Terra in!! :) And our cemetery could use some new life (wait - what?), so tombstones sound great to me!!

after completely missing this thread and stumbling across it - I'm in ! I'll double-check but the 24th should be open....
The Creature Double feature event is also something I was planning on going to - 'specially where it's only about 10 minutes down the street from my house....LOL...
but props trump movies, especially this close to the big event.....

Matt, the Creature Double Feature thing isn't until 5:00 so it could be possible to make it to both. I'm going to try to go to both. :)

To better accommodate the Creature Double Feature, we can get started at 11am on Saturday the 24th if people want. While the floor opens at 5pm for the Creature Double Feature, it looks like the main festivities don't kick off until 7pm.
For the M&T, I'll supply all the fixins' for the gravestone moss, including paint, glue, mixing bowls, latex gloves, and the all-important dryer lint. Everyone's welcome to use my tools and such, including:
Gas grill (or we can order take-out pizza or Chinese)
Tables and chairs for pretty much everyone (no need to canopy tents this time, but feel free to bring folding chairs if you like)
Compound mitre saw
Circular saws
Jigsaw
Hand tools (saws, clamps, hammers, etc)
Here's what we have so far for a headcount (please correct me if I miscounted):
Confirmed
Me (MassMax)
Dave (Zombie-F)
Carol & John (The Terrors)
Vic
John (Hawkchucker)
Manor Matt
Maybe
Joe (Lotus)
Tom & Stacey
Most of you know my first and last name from FB and my address is available from public records, but if you need my address and/or directions to my house in Ayer MA, please feel free to PM and I'll supply it.

So, I'm a maybe (more likely no) for this one now. I'm one of the people being considered for the documentary film "Homemade House of Horrors (http://www.homemadehaunt.com/)" and that is the day they want to come out and see me.
I'll keep you guys posted if that changes.

I might be a no as well for the same reason as Dave. Zach from Magic Stone Productions is making the rounds.

If a styrofoam tombstone falls over in my garage and no one's there to hear it, does it make a sound? ;)
Okay, looks like this is a bust (sorry Carol). Good luck to Dave and Vic, and best wishes to everyone as we enter the home stretch.

We'll be there to hear it... :) My tombstones could definitely use some work...
Edit: Okay - no worries, Warren. We'll catch you the next time around. :)

My apologies for not making it this time around Warren. We probably won't get together again until after Halloween, but the next Make and Take will be at your house to make up for it.
