anyone else make shrunken heads from apples

this one i accidently left out that year and it is decaying great so i now leave them out hoping they all will.

Okay how do you make them? I saw ur bat and it rocked. do ya skin it? How long do you leave it out? Those really are cool...they would be perfect for my witches display...Nice job Lilly

yes you have to skin them . I also core them out (< for shrunken heads only) then coat with lime or lemon juice or they will turn ucky , then add your eyes(whole cloves) and teeth (long grain rice) use tweezers for teeth I used a peepercorn for nose..then put in oven on a tray at 200 or warm for 3 days . I also turn them each day.
I used half apples for the bats and left the seeds in. Cutting a "V" slit for mouth kinda like this symbol <
After they are dried, add hair for heads (given to me graciously by my friends so they could have one of them)
depending how much time you want to spend on these you can poke in the hair or just glue it on
or add wings ..i poked a hole in the side then put some hot glue in that and then added wings. have to add the legs yet.
Use red delicious apples they have worked the best for me.
