Came upon an interesting article about The Day of the Dead (http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Mexico/blog-661178.html). The Day of the Dead is a Mexican festival that at first glance seems a lot like Halloween but is actually much deeper, spiritually. Has anyone ever attended a Day of the Dead celebration? I hear they are common in California and other states close to the Mexican border.

I love what I've seen of Day of the Dead, but I've never been to any real festival. One of the members here posted about his experance with it. It is one that has stuck in my memory. I like the idea of tissue paper wreaths. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

I attended a Dia De Los Muertos festival in Cleveland last year. It was freezing cold, but I walked along with everyone in a parade, followed by a dance celebration in a school gymnasium along with alter setups, drum circles and food. It was really cool to see and be a part of. I have a blog post with a lot of photos here (http://highburycemetery.blogspot.com/2010/11/dia-de-los-muertos-ohio-2010.html).
