Members and active members

What's the difference between a "member" and an "active member"? I'm assuming a member is anyone who has registered with the Forum. Is active membership defined by frequency of posting or something like that? Just curious...

Active members are defined as any member who has visited in the past 30 days. At least, that's how the forum software defines it.
