View Full Version : Christmas Party Make and Take starring Debbie5 (heehee)

Trishaanne will be hosting a Make and Take for December. I believe it will be an annual Christmas Party, so no actually Make and Take. I'm sure it will give us an opportunity to talk about ideas for upcoming Make and Takes. Anyway I think Pattie's schedule is clear, but I will confirm it with her later today. As always BYOB and contribute a food item towards the party. (Please no spam I'm sick of it!) Please start posting dates people are available so we can figure out a day that works with most peoples schedules. Also we are thinking about doing another grab bag, but I will have more details about that when I find out more. Thanks!

While I appreciate the heads up, Sharon, what the heck did you actually tell us? No date, no agenda...no information! So we may or may not have a meeting some time in December. Or not. Thanks! :D
But can I wear my costume there since I missed the Halloween party?
Rich

Rich of course you can wear your costume and I mentioned to let us know what dates the group will be available! Karen just let me know that Pattie will be available December 10th and December 17th. I am available on both dates, but what about the rest of the group? I believe Pattie will be on later tonight to post more information about the grab bag and details of the party. So Rich I hear that you will be dressing up as Lady GaGa? I'm looking forward to this party! :)

Sharon already posted the dates we have available, if that works for anyone. If we are going to do a gift exchange, it will have to be a "bring a gift, take a gift" type of thing since we didn't draw names before the after sales and there is nothing left now. I'll try to get online once every day or two so that I can check out the thread and see what's going on. Until I get my computer back (it's being held hostage by the Geek Squad), I have to use Kenny's computer when he's not using it. I guess all gifts will have to be homemade now ....dang it! It's not like I have time or talent to make gifts!!!
Joiseygal
11-19-2011, 02:45 PM
Ok well December 10th and 17th works for me, but I guess I will pick the December 17th if we want to start picking a specific date. What works for other people in the group? I also really like the idea of bringing a gift for the grab bag and making it random. We can pick numbers to see the order of who goes first on picking gifts if that works? Anyway who else has input on what date works with their schedules? Also bring pictures and video of your haunt!
trishaanne
11-19-2011, 03:28 PM
I vote for the 17th because it will give me a little more time to think of a gift and make something, although I HATE making things for other people! Gotta get my mind back into Halloween prop making mode. Shoot...all I have to do is go outback...most of the haunt is still set up out there...lol

Yeah...xmas is a bust for us....found out that we have a leak in our water main. I will be working six days as long as I can to pay for it. We used up all our savings for the roof last year...its non stop. Every weekend is shot for me between this and visiting my father. We really didnt do too much for xmas anyways but this sure put the last nail in the coffin....sorry guys, you know how much I love "making" a gift box but it just aint gonna happen....
...um....merry christmas?....bah!

Ah, dates! Either date works for me, so count me in (Lady Gaga outfit and all).
Jeff, if you need any help digging trenches or anything let me know. Maybe we can get a chain gang of haunters together with pick axes and shovels and really tear up your yard. Who knows, we might even find the water main at some point. But a whole lot of freshly dug graves in your yard would look awesome!

The 17th is good for me. Are we all making gifts??? Need to know so I can start ASAP!
Hi all, yay, the haunt s finally down. The 17th it is then. Yes gifts, it will be a grab bag drawing so KISS and under around $20 please. It's NOT mandatory to get in on the gift exchange. The most important thing is to get yer butts there for fun. Uncle Vlad wants you!! Pattie says it will be starting around 12:03 AM on the 17th, let yourself in, and ending no later than 11:57 PM. Let's hear what yall are bringing for the potluck meal. I'm still in for a birthday cake, and I'll be making a hot crock pot main course dish. BYOB I've got a surprise small prop we'll be making, no need for anyone to bring anything, but I KNOW Pattie doesn't want me having idle hands.
If anyone wants to ride along, let me know, Mariah and I would love to have you with us! And Noooooo Haunti and Dixie that doesn't mean you two, lol. But I can do airport pickup.
Joiseygal
11-20-2011, 12:25 PM
YAY..we have a date! Jay you can bring a store bought item, but it has to be under $20. As for Vlad offering a ride in Mariah than I will take you up on it. As for food I haven't decided, but I will definitely bring something.
That's awesome Sharon, Mariah likes you too, lol. Still 6 more empty seats...............

And I got a text from BlackCat asking for a ride also. Only 5 seats left............

You know I love you all, but if anyone shows up that early I can guarantee a VERY cranky host and hostess. Unless, of course, you are bringing out of state haunters that are visiting with you, in which case it's OK.
Not sure what I'll be making as far as food yet..I still have some time to figure it out. This is the first time we've just done a grab bag gift exchange..gonna be harder because it has to be something that anyone can use. It was so much easier knowing who we were buying for. Oh well, somehow I'll have to get my brain working again!

Thanks Haunti....I HATE that fricken show!!!!!
Still can't thing of a gift to make, or find any of the materials if I wanted to make anything anyway. I guess I better hurry up and take the rest of the haunt down in the back yard before the gang shows up and makes everything SO much worse.
Awww we wouldn't do that Crabbie Pattie. (heehee, lol, Yes THANK YOU SOOO much Heather!!)
Come on Noah, one afternoon off and one night in jail isn't too much time off to be with your fiends for the Holidays.
I'll also be bringing a butt load of the usual hardware freebies I've been saving up for months, and a show and tell talking Boris skull if we want to head that way for a make and take hack. Sharon has already seen it.
GhoulishCop
11-26-2011, 08:55 AM
FWIW, Jay (FrightGuy) and I will be starting a 3-axis skull build next week. It's a rather labor intensive (and somewhat expensive) project. I'm estimating somewhere around $150 or more, when all is said and done with parts, software, etc. But if anyone's interested in participating, drop either of us a line.
I think the first part of our project will just be putting our Lindberg pirate skulls together and getting a good handle on all the parts we need. So feel free to let either of us know if you want in. We both figured helping each other on the build will lower the fear factor on jumping into this. Having a few more might be fun...and helpful!
Rich

Going to be a fun and interesting build, looking forward to it!
You two should have no trouble, it's all been done before.
Ok, So let me start hearing for sure who's coming or not, and what you're bringing for the pot luck dinner.
If anyone has anything for a show and tell for future projects, or just a wish list bring it along. Time to get prepared for Jan. and beyond.

trishaanne
12-03-2011, 03:15 PM
Not sure if I'll be coming but if I do I'll bring some food. :p I'm thinking a pasta and chicken or shrimp dish.
Joiseygal
12-03-2011, 06:38 PM
Pattie you know if you don't come than you will have an unsupervised house full of haunters that have no projects to work on. You do know if Ken doesn't have anything to work on than that can be scary, especially unsupervised! Go for pasta with chicken because they say everything taste like chicken anyway. That made me think of the crickets they were selling at ToysRUs in New York City that had in the ingredients that they taste like chicken. I know they say everything taste like chicken, but if crickets taste like chicken than I think I will not eat chicken anymore. Umm better make it pasta with shrimp than. :) Oh and when do they sell bugs to eat for children?
Still no word from doggieshop, Miss Liz, tinman ???????

Vlad, are you north of Patti?? I wouldn't car pool, but follow you down. If the weather is nice, I might try to get down there, especially since I have a talking Boris I want to hack. let me know...I'll bring something..cannolis.....?? Anyoen diabetic? OR do we need food-food? Seems all the M & T's are a 4 hour drive.
Deb, you're more than welcome to ride along, why spend another two hours worth of gas when you don't have to. The talk on the ride is half the fun of getting there.
trishaanne
12-05-2011, 10:40 AM
Deb, you are more than welcome to join us. We'll be fine for food....we always have more than enough. Unfortunately, the entire gang won't be here for you to meet them...the holidays are a tough time to get everyone together. I'm sure that everyone who shows up will love to meet you!!!
Joiseygal
12-05-2011, 03:17 PM
Deb I hope you decide to come. You seem like a ball of fire and you would fit right in with the group. I don't blame you about getting in the car with Ken. Actually he is a very safe driver, it is when he is off the road that he becomes reckless!

I should be able to go and will try my best to get there, though with a wife and a just turned 13 year old daughter plus a mother who lives nearby with a recent pacemaker, other schedules may prevail. Though I am loudly declaring it a personal holiday (but that would mean someone would have to be listening :))

I hope you can make it Tom. If you decide you can come than give me a heads up a few days before the party, so I don't forget to bring the firecracker. I'm going to make a fuse box next year, so I think the firecracker will work out great for that.

Deb...I have woken up the following morning to haunters still in the house, the yard, etc. There was once an entire weekend campout with people coming in Friday and staying till Sunday. I have had haunters here for a weekend from Illinois and Kentucky, North Carolina and from the local states (NJ, PA, NY)
You'll be safe here, as long as you don't fall asleep while Vlad is still here (you may wake up with a unibrow!)
Make and takes have been known to start at 10 AM and go to well past midnight. However, that is based on the amount of alcohol that is involved and how much PVC glue they are inhaling.
Guests do not bring food...just whatever it is you may want to drink. However, we are close to a grocery store, a Walmart and a liquor store in case anyone needs anything. I have a fairly comfortable, inflatable air mattress, I think it's queen size, that you can sleep on. It's ALOT more comfortable than the futons that were here when Kellie (MsWicked) and Melissa (turtle) stayed here.
I'm a fairly decent cook and will make you breakfast the next day....it will be my B&B training...lol.
(I just love how Vlad answers these questions, like this is actually HIS house or something...hehehe)

Debbie if you want to join in on the grab bag than just bring a Halloween gift for under $20 and you will be included in the grab bag. We didn't pick names this year and who ever brings a gift will be a part of it. It can be a store bought gift or a hand made gift. Optional if you want to join, but I just wanted to let you know you are welcome to the fun!
I just love how Vlad answers these questions, like this is actually HIS house or something...hehehe

trishaanne
12-09-2011, 11:07 PM
Don't worry Deb...Vlad is harmless. He's not allowed near the new guests! Only bad part is that this is a small group here this time because of the holiday so you won't get to meet all of the haunters. Hmmm....maybe that's a good thing!

Saw the weather forecast for tomorrow....COLD, with a chance of cold! However, we've been down there in January watching the polar bear plunge, so it's not bad if you dress right for it.
Deb, since Kenny and I have hosted FreshAir Fund kids in the past, if Vlad won't take you, we will. I'm sure you'll listen to us much better than those little hoodlums we've had here. Oh, wait, that little hoodlum IS Vlad!!! :googly:

Just kidding about going to the beach. Once Vlad passes out, I will take his keys and go there myself. :)
You can take the van Deb if you want to go tomorrow, with people showing up at different times, and not everyone staying over, or maybe even wanting to go to the beach, I be thinking a beach trip tomorrow be not a good idea. For me, maybe after Sunday breakfast, or if everyone wants to go, and can get there at the same time. It's gonna take hours from the day, getting there, walking round, getting back. She's not far away but she's not in a beach front home, lol. You all decide, I'm good any which way, just don't want to leave folks behind, or split up the group on a planned day together.

I didn't like Pattie's forecast...cold with a chance of cold! I think I will stay warm inside! Pattie should we bring a blanket and pillow?

Speaking of folks getting together...can we pick a general time of when you are going to be here? I mean, there's not a major project going on, and it's mostly a Christmas party, but I'm sure that it would be easier if we had a time.

Actually it was in the basement, but I knew where it was. I put it in my room next to the grab bag gift so I won't forget. Thanks for reminding me because I would of forgot. :)
I'll remind her in the morning, then again later in the morning, then on the way down we'll call her, then after she gets into Mariah, we'll send her back in for them Tom.

Miss ya all... happy X-mas and Merry New year.
Ok, I'm heading out to the food store. Pattie don't buy anything for the breakfast, I'm getting everything I need. For my main pot luck course I've decided on a slow cooked pot roast. Making your cake tonight Sharon, lol

Please don't be upset that the house isn't clean, or neat, or hell, passable. I have had 2 four year olds here and a sick 6 month old here from 7:30 am until 6:30 pm. They were incredibly "busy" today and I got NOTHING accomplished. It's now almost 7:00 and I have to do what I can as far as cleaning and start on my gift..lol. Everyone just close your eyes, pretend the house is spotless and DO NOT post pictures that show what a mess this place is. I promise I'll do as much as I can but I am EXHAUSTED!!!

It'll be just fine Pattie, relax and work on your gift. I'm starting my food prep now, I hope everyone is hungry!
Pattie, do you have a DVD player hooked up to the TV if we settle in for Mystery Haunter Theater 3000 during the wee hours????

Well...I made a spot for Debbie to sleep. She gets the room since she's new. :p
The rest of you are on your own. Just got back from the store...I'm making a pot of french onion soup and chicken in a white wine sauce over rice. Now to run through and vacuum, dust and clean the bathroom and kitchen, since the guys were in there and who knows what it's like!
Oh yeah...finished one gift and got the other one wrapped...WOOOHOO. Now I hope I can stay awake past 8:00 PM...lol

Wow it sounds like we are going to have a really nice feast! YAY...no tv dinners tonight for me! :) Also a yummy breakfast where they don't have to ask me if I want anything else with my order and please drive up. Friends, good food and Halloween...Life is good!!!!
I hope no one minds that I have just enough dessert fixins left over to put together a small chocolate snack plate..........................
Sigh.............................................
A total gift failure on the last stage of making it last night. My apologies to whoever gets mine now, I'll have to go the "of equal value" route. The old saying still goes I guess, "don't cry over spilled latex".
We're on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe it. Did anyone check her ID to see if it really was debbie5? Did anyone see a drivers licence? I think the real debbie was tied up in this imposter's basement. Did you even ask her any questions a haunter would know? Like what is a FCG, tots, or how much candy you need to buy if Halloween lands on a Monday and it's raining, but the temp is still above 48 degrees? You guys might just have let a crackpot in your MnT. She did know what MnT stood for didn't she? She would, she's clever.

Thanks Sharron for sharing that with us. It looks like you guys had such a great time. It makes me miss our MnT's. Wouldn't it be wild if we could have one big MnT. From what I've seen of the different MnT's it seems like a lot of the haunters are the same. Great sense of humor, and very creative. Oh, and the view of the table made me wish I'd been there even more!

Roxy...that was Rich (ghoulishcop) doing the Vanna routine. This was only a small part of the group, but it's always fun hanging out with the haunters, no matter who shows up.
Scareme, there was enough food for about 25-30 people. There were sweet and sour meatballs, regular meatballs for sandwiches, salad, two rotisserie chickens, fried chicken, a pot roast, chicken in a white wine sauce over rice and french onion soup. Plus the assorted snacks, desserts and other munchies. There were also fajitas but we never put them out...sorry Deb.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the video. Yes I agree Scareme about haunters having a good sense of humor because I have so much fun with our Make and Take group. I've also noticed with Convention that haunters are just great people to be around. Anyway I'm looking forward to January's meeting because I believe we are going to make a pretty cool project. trishaanne
12-28-2011, 07:31 AM
The winds are RIDICULOUS!!! It's almost like setting up for Halloween all over again! A friend called last night..she was sitting in her living room and heard a crash. Her son's bedroom window blew in...not just the window but the frame and everything. I'm guessing that's not a good thing....LOL.
This giant block of foam, which is laying on it's side in the driveway, got lifted up by the wind and is now laying on the cap for my sons truck! Speaking of the foam, I need it out of here ASAP if you guys really want it. If not, I'll have to dispose of it.
Everyone stay warm and safe..don't get blown away taking your Christmas lights down or anything. (or in my case, taking the rest of the Halloween decorations down out back)

Great video Sharon, as usual. I had tears in my eyes watching it because I miss everyone. The holidays weren't the same this year, beginning with Halloween. I kinda lost my "spirit" with all the stuff going on around here and being unable to take a trip to Patti's for the M&T's and festivities.
What are the plans for this year since Patti has the nerve to be moving? LOL. As always, I'll keep my eyes peeled for upcoming news.
Wishing everyone in the Best Make & Take Group ever a belated Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! :D
