I made the jack-o-lantern head after seeing Pumpkin Rots display and as you see I have no talent for copying his style. I was not really happy with it because I didn’t know what I was going to do with it.
After joining this forum and checking out all of your fantastic contributions I was inspired to enter this contest. Since I had a head already..Why not?
While cruising the web I came across a painting of a animated pumpkin patch that led me to sketch an idea that wasn’t your typical pumpkin mounted on a body, scarecrow.
I had plenty of supplies (or piles of crap, as my wife refers to it) in my garage, that I had collected over the years for craft. The question was….could I put my idea together in time to make the deadline?
Well after a couple of all day craft marathoning…..here is my contribution.

Watch out Great Pumpkin…..Move over Pumpkin King…Here comes “CALABAZAS “

Thanks for letting me participate. I love everyone’s ideas and the open forum of sharing.
It’s nice to know, that I am not a nutcase and that there are others like me in the world…lol
Good luck to all participants!

I always have Steven Spielburg expectations for my projects. The problem is that I have a “work for food” budget. Most of this stuff I already had. SO here is the list of prices I came up with.

1- Bent cherrywood post for fencing……… $2.15 H.D
2- Planks for stand………………………… Free from my wood pile
3- Cauldron for making the Jack-o-lantern head…$12.99
4- Paper bags for leaves………………….Free for choosing paper instead of plastic for the last month.
5- Newspaper…………………………….Free from the neighbors re-cycle bin
6- Crepe paper for pumpkin flowers………..$1.09
7- Green paint……………………….Free aprox. ½ quart of the green house paint in the garage.
8- Yellow, orange and white latex craft paints for lightening the green ..1 each color $.69 ea. $2.07
9- ½ box of Wheat paste wallpaper paste……………….$ 1.99
10- Floral wire…..had in my craft stock….originally $10.00…………….$ 1.50
11- Staples, nails and screws…………..from my screw can in the garage……..Free
12- Wire. Collected from job construction site over the years…………….Free
13- 9 volt light and cord for lighting head…..Free. Robbed from the ceramic haunted house on the mantel

Total ………..$21.79
