I shut it off. There's a few members that are constantly editing, re-editing, and re-editing again what they post. It makes me a little suspicious as to what's going on. If all is well after a while, I'll re-enable it.

I don't think there is anything suspicious going on except I there are times especially in the games area that I will post an answer and someone else just posted while I was posting. I use the edit button to go in and change my answer to stay in sequence.

Put the offending parties on Double-Secret Probation for "excessive use of the edit button".

The few, the proud, the bad keyboarders.
That would include me.
Since I can't use 'white out' I'm compelled to use the edit button to rectify typos caused by excessive, compulsive creative expression.

It's all my fault! I've been deleting and replacing circuit attachments as I make changes.

My two cents (which count for nothing here but...........I'm annoying and will offer anyways)..........is that if it doesn't cost anything or cause any undue burdens on you, Z-F, I would re-enable the edit button for those of us who aren't up to anything nefarious. :D

Well, it's either all or none. A certain other forum doesn't have editing enabled and nobody seems to have a problem with that.
I'll turn it back on. But if I see posts being edited, edited again, and re-edited AGAIN weeks after the fact, then I'm shutting it off permanently. I can't have content constantly changing and/or disappearing like that.

And as for the spell check thing... I suggest you switch to FireFox 2.0 and above as it has a spell checker built in that underlines misspelled words in red.

Can you give us some idea what you are describing and WHY its a bad thing ? I don't see the point myself. If I want to go back and change a post to maybe correct something down the road after I find out I was wrong or I was having a bad day and it sounded wrong whats wrong with that ? I mean the person that posted is the only one that can edit unless your moderators are doing it for no good reason. It seems a little paranoid from my side of the street. I am just trying to make sure we are not getting into sensorship or something like that. I make mistakes and correct some of my posts the few that I make anyway since I am not a heavy poster in the first place. My .02 cents on the issue.

yeah i wanted to edit something also at last minute and tried to stop it from posting and it posted 2 times but at least it didn't add to my post count that wouldnt be fair. so that was good.
If anyone has google toolbar they have a spell check in it and it will do all words mispelled.
now i just have to remember to use it once in a while!

The BAD thing in this that a person can post something negative/derogatory/hateful, and then change it before the mods see it. It's something I've been through before in a previous forum I ran, so it's something I'm a little apprehensive about having enabled in the first place.

As a mod, if I ever edit a members post, you can damn well better believe I had a good reason for doing it. I know what Z is talking about when it comes to this because I was there. In some instances on this board, even with the edit button in place, some folks REFUSE to use the function to correct atrocious spelling. I'm not talking about a word here or there, I'm talking about posts that would shame a pre-schooler. I will continue to move posts from the wrong posted forums AND I will edit when the occasion call's for it. That's MY .02 cents.

Speaking of nice ones, don't you think it's time you started finding a "nice" pix to post in General Movie Picture Game?
I made a small error. It's not like I posted an entire spiel in Pig Latin like some people do around here.
