It's a smallish, very up close and personal gathering. I went last year and had a good time. This one is like a cool little show-and-tell with some socializing and some neat little seminars.
I'll probably be there as it's about an hour drive for me. HauntForum will be donating a DVD and a shirt to the door prizes.

I'd love to go to this one also, I already told Black Cat, that if she's really serious about going (she's the one who called my limited attention span to this thread), she better book a hotel room now (Salem has a reputation for filling up throughout the year)

You can't blackmail me.....I'll come out right now and tell everyone the secret.
We all found out at the last meeting, quite by accident by the way, that Slightlymad is a crossdresser. Poor Vlad is the one who walked in on him, imagine HIS surprise. Well, from what I hear, Vlad has been sitting in the corner, rocking gently and muttering to himself since the last meeting. Blackcat says he keeps repeating "My eyes, my eyes" but up until now she didn't know what was wrong. Sorry Slightlymad.....but you brought this on yourself! :D

It's one of the sad comments on the world as we know it, that sometimes you get what you wish for (as in meeting Vlad, lol). We're definitely going. I hear that Zombie wants to throw a Sunday barb-Q. I'm sure that Slightlymad (Jay) is looking forward as much as I am to throwing up in his backyard after partying for two days straight, hehehe...........
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you more than you know.Gatherings are always a good time.

Vlad, darling, hubby has not made reservations yet. We're trying to fit it into our already overstretched budget. SHEESH! Between all the graduations, retirement events, weddings and then a few hundred bucks for the guy to come fix the pool, I'm trying to figure out how we're going to be able to afford to pay the electric bill this month! :p Best I can do is promise to try our best to make it.

Well i guess i all beat you all home! I had a blast this year again, got to learn a few things and have a good time. I thought the lectures were good (especially since they were dumbed down enough for technically challenged people like me to understand), and I also thought that the Silent Auction was a nice new touch this year (congrats on getting the seringes SpecterTTM!). It was also really nice to see so many Hauntforum people there... that was clearly the most dominant shirt of the day. It was great seeing again those of you i've met before, and it was great to meet some new people. I hope the beerworks and the ghost tour were a blast!

Really great meeting you. Glad you made it home OK. The Beer Factory was good but Vlad, Slightlymad, One of the Devils Rejects, and Black Cat could not make the tour. They did not start it till after 9:00. We did go to Terror on the Warf. Nice, well done small haunted house. Thought the gathering was a really good time. Learned a lot of new things. Maybe someday you can come to our New Jersey Make-N-Take.

That was a lot of fun this year. I especially loved the tutorial Chris Sylvia gave on styrofoam masonry and painting. That will all come in handy especially given I'm working on a crypt at the moment.
It was great to meet so many of you guys finally! Aprille and I had a blast at the Beer Works and then going over to Terror on the Wharf afterwards. That was a really nice small haunt right in Salem.
I can hardly wait until next year. :D

Greetings to all from Zombie's deck! We're still here in Mass., and will post pics as soon as we get home. At the moment we're all enjoying Z's BBQ, having a few cocktails, disturbing the neighbors, and loving life. It was a great group of people we had at the gathering from Hauntforum, about a dozen of us. More stories to come, but a great time was had by all, and we'll be home soon.

This is my first post on this forum. I have activly read many other haunted forums, but just found out about this one at the NE haunt show.
I attend the event with 5 others from our haunt. It was a really great time, got to meet alot of local haunters. Some nice workshops, I really really want to play with some styrofoam. That workshop also inspired me to prank my freind. We are going to transform his room into a dungeon!
I didn't get to stay late, becouse the guy that was driving was tired, next year i am driving my self.
Thanks

Wow, What can I say.
What an awesome group of people this time around.
It was good seeing Zombie-F & Aprille again.
Nice to see mikeq91 & Lotus again this year.
What I enjoyed the most was finally getting a chance to meet Vlad, Black Cat,
Slightly Mad, One of the Devils Rejects, Pyro, Trishanne and her husband (I hope his foot is better).
I wish they had a few of these a yr. For the social aspects alone.
My wife & I were kinda bumbed that we had to miss the Spooky walk due to
the delay in start time. But after seeing Pyro's post I'm kinda glad we didn't stay and wait for it.
The guy who ran the Terror on the Wharf was a real nice guy. He cut us a deal on the price of admission. He also brought us thru a room that was still
in construction. During the walk thru I was behind Zombie-F. He and I were checking out the scenery construction. Oh look this bucky covered with Great stuff. Check out this Vacuum form panel here.
At the end of the tour / walk thru Vlad told him that we were home haunters
and really appreciated the work & detail that he put into his attraction.
My wife commented that we might be up for a road trip for one of the
Jersey Make & Take in the future.
Once again thanks toto a great group of people.

lol, well she didn't say anything about it!
A quick story about the small pro haunt we went thru. All I can say, is that Haunters make lousy haunt customers. The ticket seller/tour guide had a snowball's chance in Hell of scaring us, lol. I admit that I missed one scare as he came out underneath the wall section where I was making hand shadow butterflies on the cave wall, lol. There was just something about going through a haunt after having been to a gathering that really made the day special. All in all though, we were fairly well behaved patrons, and saved any comments till we were out of earshot.

Big mistake on my part. Now I'm stuck waiting a year, although I'm thinking a few us RI/MA types should get together for a couple beers once the building truly whips into high gear. I fully volunteer to host. Beers and building in the garage - sounds like a coffin building day could be in the works.

It was nice meeting you all at the gathering. Chris Sylvia has no peer when it comes to styrofoam props. I learned tons. The Jim's pneumatics class was good too (hopefully you caught part 1 of the class last year). Pyro was right, you didn't miss anything if you didn't stick around for the Spooky tour (except hanging out with friends). There was a guy taking the tour who knew more of the history of Salem than the guide did. I got most of my entertainment from him. Bravo to the Haunt Club for putting the gathering together again this year! I can't wait 'til next year.

Chris' styrofoam masonry tutorial was fantastic! He seems like a real nice guy and his work with foam is amazing. The timing on that couldn't be more perfect because on my back deck is a half-finished crypt I started a few weeks ago. :D
I can't wait for next year already. After the gathering and the tour of Terror on the Wharf afterwards, I am really charged up for the yard haunt this year. It was great meeting so many people from here and meeting so many new people too.
I just hope at least the guide knew that the witch trials actually happened in nearby DANVERS, MA (which used to be Old Salem Village). A lot of books, tour guides, etc. usually leave that part out. :p

I'd love to try making some wood paneling out of foam for use as interior walls in my shed display. I think it'd be durable enough to hold up for a number of years, but the question would be is it cost effective? I tried "saving" scene setters last year by holding them up with velcro, but in some cases, the velcro tape didn't hold to the scene setters and in others the velcro held too well and tore the scene setters.
Hmmm....

*I have alot of freinds at RISD. It would be really cool, to do it with them. They have some great workshops, and they are very creative.
