If you donate to the prize pool, you can make an entry, you just won't be included in the voting nor can you win a prize. This is done to curb anyone from thinking that any favoritism is being shown to any of the prize donors.

You need to build a NEW sign.

Shipping costs are NOT included in your build cost.

You can use her Doc, but her fee must be added to the total cost.

This is the first time we've done one of these, so there's no pictures from last year.

Let your imagination take control here. The sign only need be halloween or haunt-related in some fashion. Make it as ornate or simple as you like... wood, foam, or whatever materials you like. Hang it from a wooden sign post, angle bracket off the side of a building, or make it self-standing. Let your creative juices take you where you may.

Some examples and ideas may include (but are not limited to):

Hanging signs on wooden posts
Road signs nailed to wooden post
Free-standing signs
Lighted Signs
Sign with your haunt name on it
Sign with haunt rules on it
Sign with directions on them
Warning signs

Ok, maybe this is a good time to post that I would like to donate a prize. I have already PMed Zombie a while ago about this suggestion so here goes my suggestion. Anyway, I have a 50 dollar visa card to give out to who ever can come up with the most creative etc to add on to this prop that has something to do with Hauntforum.com. That means what ever the 2nd contest is, then you have a chance to win a 50 dollar visa in addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize. If that makes sense? It can be anything to do with Hauntforum. You can stick your Hauntforum Tshirt on it or make a banner, draw Zombie's face on the prop, whatever you can think of that really means Hauntforum. And I think that since the moderators do such a good job here at Hauntforum, they should be the judge of who gets the visa card that I am donating.

Yes, the rules have been amended so that the mods and admin will vote for the winner of the secondary contest prize. Also, the mods are now excluded from eligibilty for prizes, which I think is only fair, and keeps us impartial. This gonna be a very interesting contest!

Hauntie is correct. Submissions built or started prior to the contest give you an unfair advantage as you have a head start on your project over everyone else.

Yes. The means to hold the sign can be as creative as you like, but its cost must be included in the sign.

I thought maybe I would create a sign for the house since I am trying to incorporate the front of it into the atmosphere.
I bought some black jute burlap today on sale for $1.20 a yard (45" wide). I took advantage of Hancock Fabrics' misfortune. Maybe I can use that on it some kind of way.

i have another question... if i use a fog machine in my prop... would that go into the cost of the prop?
the prop could be used without the fog... so it's nothing big...

bad weather sucks!
we did get the garage all cleaned up and somewhat organized so i have the space to work.
just need to make a trip to menards and i'll get started!
i ended up getting a free dog house frame though!
i'm going to put pallet wood over it and paint "FLUFFY" in bloody letters over the door.
then i'm gonna add some LEDS with a sensor on them so they turn on when someone goes infront of it!
lol... so many ideas... so little time!

Got a draft done, not sure what I want to make it out of yet. I keep thinking wood and burning the image into it, but I am not very artistic (have a hard time drawing a straight line with a ruler, if you know what I mean) so this is going to be a real challange for me. But hey, first time for everything.

I would like to use the ribcage, both forearms, the feet, and probably the lower leg bones. How would I go about pro-rating this?

I picked up two of these skull after 'ween last year on 75% off clearance!!!!
It took the whopping $30 price tag down to a manageable $7.50. I never knew what I was going to use them for until this contest came around.....

I've been using fxHome's EffectsLab. It's pretty flexible. I may try to use some of the particle/smoke effects in my Halloween related videos this year, depending on what I decide to do. :)

Last year I obtained some items from a haunter on another forum (read as free due to lose of storage ie divorce) in question would be a small set of pillars that would make excellent posts but serve no other usefull purpose in my display. They were free but they fit fairly close to the 3$ bucky rule. I just want to be sure.

wow i completely forgot to comment those. the first is just a view of where im at. it doesnt really serve the stake justice, it was literally weathering outside for a year so it looks sweet

the second is how i attached the PVC rod on the back. i drilled 2 holes in a 1/2" 90 degree and nailed it on. the pvc rod can is removable. the skeleton is a 3' from walmart last year his head and hand are nailed in place. theres a ziptie at his spine

the third is a bone which i began carving...it isnt done...right now glue is drying so thats why its all plasticy. the bone will be where the piece of PVC is in the first picture and my actual sign part will hang down from a chain there. in the top right you can see a skeleton hand, which doesnt really matter.

i plan on making a sign that says "Windfield Manor" as that will be the name of my new site that i am currently coding. nothing amazing, but its cool.

OK, I actually started this weekend. A miracle, I know. I actually made way more progress than I thought I would (a miracle in the world of prop building, as you all know), so I'm really excited.

One question though, before I proceed. If I bought a Prop-1 in a group buy and got the quantity discount (which I actually did), is it fair to use the discount price of $25 instead of the retail price of $35? I want to be fair, so please let me know what you think.
