No big deal and it could work itself out...but I get a redirect page when I click on Search/ New Posts / ...there's clickable link on the redirect which works fine.

All of what you're describing I detailed in this message (http://www.hauntforum.com/showthread.php?t=6357).

Did all that, Z.. Logged out, clearded cookies, closed browser, logged back in, checked "remember me" box, but it's still happening...I'll give it time to propogate. It should work itself out?

The logging out thing only addresses issues with not being able to log in properly.

Ever since you upgraded the server, my fancy coffee cup holder doesn't work any more on my computer. LOL. The funny thing is, I don't drink coffee. LOL.

I get the page redirected thing, too. It's a little annoying, but I can live with it as long as I'm still using the forum. :D

TwistedDementia

Still getting redirect.... not a big deal though.

Zombie-F
05-07-2007, 05:16 PM
I know the redirects are annoying, but we may have to live with them until next Sunday at the latest. The server's new location is probably still propagating throughout the internet and from what I've read, it could take as many as seven days to complete.

Its kinda funny the redirects show up on my work computer and old computer but not the new computer. Which was the only one that I did not reset. But thats cool its alotta work in a little time.

Your computer must have been storing the old DNS info and still going to the old ip address. It can take up to 7 days for the web site's new location to propagate throughout the entire internet... maybe even longer. I just hope everyone finds there way back here. :D

Nope, but I'll keep trying!

I can only access hauntforum for a short periods at a time. I have 3 different computers, different OS, Bla Bla Bla, cleared dns, reset router, the works. I assume it may be a problem with my isp (WOW). PS, Everything was working untill the move. I'm noy sure of the problem.

Zombie-F
05-16-2007, 07:31 PM
Hmmm. Who is your ISP? It could very well be an issue with them or perhaps (and I find this hard to believe, but anything's possible) our new location hasn't propagated all through the internet just yet.

TwistedDementia
05-16-2007, 09:22 PM
My ISP is 'wide open west', but...
This is my latest update so far. On one of my computers running, the one I'm on now, (XP MCE older version) I re-installed internet explorer 7 but this time did not load the automatic updates option or malicious software removal tool option and I'm on the Forum with no problem's so far.
I will try this on one of my other computer's and see if the results are the same. I have a felling I've narrowed it down to one of microsoft's latest updates for IE7 as the possible problem, I'll contiue to post the result's I find so maybe others having similar problem's may benifit.

TwistedDementia
05-16-2007, 11:40 PM
OK, another update. I was typing along earlier and than lost my connection until just now, so I think it has to be an issue with my ISP. So Zombie I think it's like you said, maybe 'our new location hasn't propagated all through the internet just yet' or my ISP(wide open west) is having problems? I'm Puzzled!

Hey Zombie! If I called my ISP, is thier anything they could to see if it's a problem with them or would I be wasting my time?

I don't rightly know. Depends on how good their tech support people are really. It would be worth a shot.

Ok, write this down because this could help answer your question. I will need something called a traceroute from you. This is basically where your computer tries to send and receive data from our server and records how many jumps it takes over the internet to get there and how long each jump took to respond. If there's a dead server out there somewhere that is stopping you from seeing us, this will reveal where the problem is:

Tracert:
1) Click on Start then Run...
2) Type "cmd" and press enter
3) Type "tracert 69.89.31.58" and press enter
4) Right click on the window and click on Select All
5) Press enter to copy it into the clipboard

Then just paste the contents of that report into a PM or e-mail to me.

TwistedDementia
05-19-2007, 11:38 AM
Do you want it from my router or computer? I've did this from my router already and this is the report:

I hope this can shed some light?

notice line (6 * * * Request timed out. )????

Zombie-F
05-20-2007, 08:43 AM
Well, it does tell me that there is a server in between your computer and our site that was down at that time. What is interesting is that comparing it to your previous traceroute, you're making different "stops" along the way, which means I can't tell you which server it is that's flaking out on you.

Do your outages happen at about the same time every day?

Do you have any friends or family in your area whose computer you could use to check and see if they can access the site or not during these downtimes?

Being that line 6 timed out and didn't give us any information about the server's location, it wasn't very helpful. :(

I'm back at the moment, I tried 3 other locations with the same results. It's neither of our ends that't the problem it's about in the middle of routing where the problem is, so thank's for all your help and I'll be patient and hope the problem resolves itself, Thank's again!

TwistedDementia
05-24-2007, 05:10 PM
OK this is what I have so far. I haven't been able to log on at all since yesterday but this is what I looked up so far. In about the middle of my traceroute's is where I get the timed out error.
I had 2 other friends of mine and my brother try to acess the forum and both friend's in other city's, same state, and they could not access with the same problem at the same time I couldn't.
It contunes to be and not be avialible at all different times without changes any of my setting's for any of my computers.
At one point I did disabled firewall and 'all that' but same problem.
I did a tracerouth to the ip you gave me before, your domain provider I believe (http://69.89.31.58/ bluehost) with no time-out then did one to www.hauntforum.com and timed-out, then to you ip 69.16.212.167 timed-out again. I'm guessing here but do you think it could have something to do with where your name is hosted and the redirect is gliching?
Also I noticed when there's no time-out it went through sprint route and with time-outs it went through att route on the traceroute test's.
Any idea's or suggestion's on otherthing's I can try/test???

Here we are again Zombie! Good news this time.

I called my cable company and demanded a advanced tech and actually got one, anyways... I had them try to access the forum with the IP and name and all that and they couldn't access either. So after almost 2 hours on the phone with both of us testing thing's, they figure what I already know, that the hops are getting broken somewere in between me and the forum and have created a ticket to solve this problem. Hopefully, they fix this soon and I'll be on a lot more.

That's great news. It just sucks that you actually have to demand to talk to someone that can actually help you. The first time you called they should have done that. I hope they get the problem ironed out for you. :D

Wow! I got a messege from this site's host:

This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota
Please contact this site's webmaster.
Wait a few minutes and use your browser's "Back" button or click here (http://box258.bluehost.com/highload.html#) to try again.

If you are the webmaster, your account may have exceeded for one or more of the following reasons:
<LI class=style2>Your site has used more than 20% of the cpu. <LI class=style2>Your account has too many processes running at the same time.
Your site was consuming too many resources. This happens on occassion to very busy sites that have inefficient scripts running.
Has this happened to anyone else??
