Well, I was sending this out two times and my computer crashed!,so let's try again...

Here's my sign. Simple, but I wanted to decorate it each year as I saw fit for the scenes I was doing.

I used a rough cut jigsaw blade to rip the jagged corners on the 1/4 plywood.

I stained it.

i then painted the letters and highlighted it with a different color paint.

I attached it to scrap 2x2.

I wrote "dead" with uv spray paint that is invisable in light.

It shows under blacklight.

Materials:

1/4 plywood panals ( 2 x $4 ea.)
Acrylic paint ($2)
2x2 piece of scrap wood free.
Spray UV ($1 on the high side prorated.)
Roofing nails (free)

Total $7

I love it SI - it's nicely thought out, especially the glow in the dark paint.

Thanks guys. This sign is actually the reason why I was posting in another...er...post....about a self fading circuit. If I can get a black spot and put the fader on it, the "dead" can look like a supernatural glow that fades up and then out to nothingness while not affecting the rest of the sign.

Lilly- I originally tried for the carved look, althouh I don't think I succeeded. heh I didn't want the lettering to be too pretty or uniform, I kinda wanted an old western slapped together look for a ghost town thang. I actually thought about bullet holes, too, then decided against it.

Ms. Wicked, thanks for the compliment. The paint doesn't glow in the dark on it's own though. If you turn out the light, nothing happens. Only when you add black light do you see the hidden word. :D

Great job Sickie! I love the glowing effect! What an original!
(Note to self......pick up some UV paint next time at store)
Did you get the fading circuit thing worked out?
Boy would that be freaky to be looking at the sign and then all of a sudden, the word "dead" appears.
I wonder if a motion detector with the black light would work?
As someone enters up, the sign would glow???
I'll have to check out your posts on the fading circuit and play around...
That is a great idea Sickie!
NICE JOB!!!

Thanks L. I bought the uv spray paint from someone here last year, and I finally got to use it in a way that I like! :D

Otaku has posted a great circuit although I have yet to try it. Bourno sold me one of his extras.

Motion detector. What a neat idea!
