Nice how-to Zombie, very detailed and well worded. I really like props that provide low light myself. I will have to try dressing up some PVC candles I have with the glue gun. One variation on the candles might be to cut the top at an angle. Also, do you think a wagon wheel could be turned into one of those sailing ship steering wheels?

That sounds like a good idea to cut the candles at an angle. You'd have to push the bulb socket deeper into the PVC, but it would probably work. It'd be worth trying before you glue the socket in.

Also, do you think a wagon wheel could be turned into one of those sailing ship steering wheels?

It might. There is some metal strapping around the outside edge of the wheel, so it all depends on if that actually is holding it together or not. If it's not, then you could remove it and use wooden dowels to give the illusion of it being a ship's wheel. I have a second one I am going to attempt turning into a ship steering wheel.
