Revenant

As human beings, we are all concerned with our own mortality. Our religious beliefs and cultural upbringings greatly influence our views on things like the afterlife, and the manner of our passing. What constitutes a "good" death, a noble or preferred death, and what role has honor in our crossing over? While our personal views may differ greatly, one thing surely is common to us all. Regardless of our cultural conditioning or spiritual beliefs, at some time in our lives we all acknowledge one universal truth: Being digested alive by a corrosive alien amoeba monster would just totally suck.
With that in mind, I introduce you to: "Sizzle"

Poor Sizzle is having a bad day. A really bad day. But he has no one to blame but himself, really. He knew that strange, gelatinous mass was bad news when he saw it in that steaming crater... the way it pulsated, the way it shifted when he approached, the faint aura of malice it radiated. But he just had to poke at it with a stick, didn't he? I mean, come on, what is it with these yokels and that damned stick, anyway? People, please... if you know it's alive, and you don't know what it is... leave it alone and call the authorities. Cops, fire department, animal control, whatever... it's their jurisdiction, not yours. They get paid to deal with these things. Just put the stick down, go home, and call someone. Sizzle here learned the hard way... learn from his mistake.

The challenges I gave myself were 1)to make something that looked fluid, not like cloth, 2)to try to give it a suggestion of movement and dynamic, 3)to try to give it a feeling of panic and agony, and 4)to just make it really gross.
Hope you like him. Some of the colors really washed out when I took the picture, but I was using an unfamiliar camera and didn't really have time to play with lighting or location cuz I'm simultaneously trying to get packed for a camping trip here LOL... the flesh tones don't show up well on the head, so it's kinda hard to tell the difference between his skin and skull... it shows up better in person! Really! :D
So, when voting time rolls around, remember our ol' buddy Sizzle here. It's probably too late to make his day any better... but it'd sure make mine!
