Here's my first attempt at corpsing a skull. It's one of the small ones you get with the bag of bones.

Not a real good pic but a before & after

I used elmers glue and strips paper towels. I think it came out pretty good for my first attempt. I want to yellow it some and then I plan on adding some stain to darken areas and give it a little depth.

My question is now that the glue/paper is dry what should I do next? Paint it with a latex paint, stain and then spray with some sort of clear coat?

Nice looking little skull ya got there Joker! I have that same skull on the left of your pic sitting on top of my monitor staring at me..... LOL

Some people swear by "polyurethane" for the final coat to sort of weatherproof their props. There's all kinds of different ways to do your props, you just have to figure out what you like best and what fits into your budget if ya have one... :googly: LOL
I'd stick to what you were planning to do: latex paint, stain and then clear coat with polyurethane.
Just my 2 cents... :>

I agree. Paint it with latex first. Any spots that aren't soaked well enough with glue will soak up stain and you don't want that to happen. It's very unsightly..lol, I learned that the hard way. Once you've painted it with latex, you can throw some stain over it, wipe off the excess, and voila! Perfectly aged corpse skull! If it's going to be something that stays outside in the weather, put a clear coat on it... polyurethane yellows over time in sunlight though. Might wanna try something made for the outdoors like spar urethane. :)

Thanks for the compliment and info. The yellowing of the polyurethane over time may add to the aging. hmmmm

Thanks again
