Hello all
Just thought I would let everyone know of some problems I have run into. I have been using 1" foam (the pink stuff) glued together to make the first few tombstones but found a surplus building suppier that carried what I tought would be a huge money and time savor. They carry 2" and 3" foam insulation (not sure the brand but it was yellow) The only problem I could see was that it had dual sided foil backing. We after almost 3 hours of cussing I was able to get most of the foil of one side and the material underneath was not that great. Needless to say I am planing a trip to home depot later to pick up more liquid nails and 1" foam board. I have almost resigned myself to just buying the cheap walmart tombstones but I have had such a great time so far in my building. Sorry for the rant but I just need a good place to vent.

Hi Sgt. Yeah I looked that stuff over also, and thought it looked a little "chalky". Is that what happened? Did it just flake apart?

Hey Vlad
It was strange, after I started peeling off the foil I noticed that it seemed to be crumbling. I got out the dremel and routed a test area and it just fell apart. I would just warn everyone to stay away from anything with a foil backing, it might work, but for me was just too much trouble. It looks like the best foam to use is the blue or pink stuff. Of course I may be stating the obvious to fellow members but just want to save anyone else the headache.

Thanks
Sgt

Thanks for the warning Sarge, I just assumed the foil backed stuff was the same type foam as the blue and pink foam board.
Don't give up on your tombstones yet...it's so much more fun to make them yourself!
