Hey everyone! It seems like its been forever since I've logged on, but for an odd reason im in the halloween mood. Enough blabbering, I've seen many large man made pumpkins and would deffinitally like to make some but I am unsure of how? Here is a link to something I'm looking to similarly make. http://www.hauntedoverload.com/main.htm Your help is appreciated! Thanks!

That is one cool site. I found how he made the large pumpkins. He said it's a big ball of chicken wire with a thick layer of spray foam over it. Shape is carved by hand with a wood rasp and coated with liquid nails for durability. That was all I could find but it sounds simple enought.

So are you saying you just make the general shape you want the pumpkin then carve in the lines and such?

Yea, that's really all it said. I remember seeing a pic of someone carving out a pumpkin and you can see the chicken wire that they used. You'll need lots of spray foam though but I bet this could end up being a very cool addition to your haunt!!!!

I honestly can't recall where I read/saw this technique but a guy (or gal) made large pumpkins by taking one of those huge balls they sell in toy depts and deflatied it a little bit. Then they tied string around it to create the pumpkin skin ridges. The shape looked great. Then they papermached over it. When dried, they cut a hole in the bottom and pulled the ball out. Carve, paint and it's done.

That's what I'm going to try making for my haunted pumpkin patch this year :)
