Actor Glenn Shadix dies at 58

Glenn Shadix, an actor who is perhaps best known for playing Otho in the 1988 film “Beetle Juice,” has passed away at the age of 58.

The Alabama native died Tuesday morning in his Birmingham condo, a family member told The Birmingham News.

“He was having mobility problems, and he was in a wheelchair,” his sister said, adding that Shadix appeared to have hit his head after a fall.

Shadix - who has been in a number of films and television shows - worked with Tim Burton more than once, supplying the voice of the Mayor in Burton’s 1993 work “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and also appearing in the filmmaker’s 2001 movie, “Planet of the Apes.”

According to The Birmingham News, Shadix studied theater at a local college in the mid-1970s before making the move to New York and then Los Angeles. He returned to his southern roots about three years ago after almost 30 years in the business to be closer to his family and to write, his sister told the paper.

Zombie theme for 13 year old's party?

My daughter decided she wants to have a Zombie theme for her 13th birthday sleepover at the end of this month (nothing like advance planning!!)

I need some creative ~tame~ ideas. We're having probably 8 12-13 year old girls, so it can't be too gory or over the top (yeah, I know. Sad. :rolleyes:) We'll have dinner at the local pizza buffet and then convoy out to my sister's house, who has more room, for the sleepover. I'm going to take a bunch of my props & stuff out to set up the weekend before.

So I need ideas for games / snacks / breakfast. I'm sure there will be a bonfire & smores that evening. And how to word the invties so the parents know that the sleepover is being held somewhere different from where they got dropped off?

Also, how do you get people to RSVP???? Last year I made sure my name & cell # were on the invites & we still had 3 show up who hadn't called. That is a huge pet-peeve of mine. It takes all of a minute to call & say "yes, my kid will be there" or "no, my kid won't be there". GRRRR.

Glue 'em together and put them in a shade too dark empty spot, or a quickly overlooked place that still needs something to fill it.
I got tired of tripping over mine after one too many dollarstore spending sprees. :)
A bonus might be with the right little light snugged inside they might glow or direct a few select beams in the right direction. I haven't tried yet.

Nothing special in this. Simple great stuff "hanger".

I was going to get detailed with this guy and hang it over a fire pit. But I never got past making his guts. So I decided to throw a few things on him (a head and shirt) to see if he's use-able as a quickie prop. I have some rusty chains made. I might hang him on side wall of my house with chains, looking over the display. If I have some spare time before Halloween, I'll make him some dangling arms.

Anyone know how to make a light so that it flickers, fades and then goes out? I'd like a lantern type of light, not a regular flashlight, but something that'll put out enough illumination to see the immediate surrounding area.

I guess flicking the switch of an electric lantern would do the trick, but thought there might be something riggable out there.

Is it possible to link two SSC-32 Servo Controllers together to control 64 servos? I have been using two mini ssc 2's to control most of my haunt. I figured it would be cheaper to expand my haunt with just two ssc-32 instead of 4 mini ssc's. I'll be using the VSA program to control them.
