A couple weekends ago I set up my UFO crash landing prop on the roof inspired by Dave Lowe's drawings. I don't believe I ever showed this here so here ya go!

You can make a fairly useful prop using almost exclusively recycled materials and junk.
For this one you will need:
discarded plastic water bottles
a juice bottle
a fist-sized chunk of old styrofoam
masking tape (maybe a whole roll, probably less)

Home Depot has a $29 kit right now for a 4-shelf wood storage unit. It is quite cheap looking but purportedly holds up to 100lbs per shelf. Plus, it's wood, not wire or finished board, so you can stain it to look really old.
