Just finished the mask for my costume this year. It's paper mach with a top layer of tissues for texture, crackle spray paint for extra surface detail, and Sculpey clay for the teeth. More pictures here.

This was my first serious attempt at a paper mache mask. Eventually, I want to use it as the face for a full scarecrow, but as I am currently lacking in storage space for a large prop, that will have to wait. Used a plastic mask blank for the base, tissues for the top layer of mache to give...

Seems there are basically two camps of DIY Haunters. The clay and cast/mold people and the paper mache people. Everyone is always talking about casting items in latex, or plaster, or silicone. You usually have to order the materials online and pay for shipping, or pay through the nose for a very...

This here is my first yard haunt ever. It's not, strictly speaking, a yard haunt. My yard is tiny with zero space on it, so I set up in a shop window near my home. I only got the space four days before halloween, so it's nothing spectacularly original. Groundbreakers, crosses, witch, cauldron...

I have gotten a number of people on this and other Halloween forums requesting that I assemble my Entrance Column notes and pictures into a full tutorial. So therefore I am caving under pressure and present to you said tutorial. Enjoy!

A ghost coming out of a wall. Rolled newspaper and mache. I had this crazy idea to paint parts of it blue. Ectoplasm or something. God knows why (CORRECTION:God has no idea why). I also had this crazy idea to make black stuff dripping out of it's eyes. Sad ghost. I also had this crazy idea to...

My WIP zombies need just a little more detailing before I start the paint. I've learned a lot doing these guys and have been lucky with some of them and not so lucky with others. I'm hoping everything just comes out in the wash, lol.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but here goes. Roxy or any other moderator, feel free to move it if you need... I've been pondering setting up a class within my neighborhood for the older kids on how to Stolloween-style pumpkins. Has anyone tried this? I'm kinda tired of being the...
